Important Update for Tuesday, July 7

Cleanup and restoration efforts continue across the Manheim Township School District following the severe storms that impacted our area.

While power has been restored to Landis Run Intermediate School (LRIS), many roadways in and around the Manheim Township community remain blocked or impacted by downed trees, power lines, and storm debris. In an effort to keep our students, families, and staff safe while cleanup and utility restoration continue, the following schedule will be in effect for Tuesday, July 7:

NOW Open Tuesday, July 7
Landis Run Intermediate School (LRIS)

Closed Tuesday, July 7
Bucher Elementary
Nitrauer Elementary
District Office

Bucher Elementary, Nitrauer Elementary, and the District Office remain without power as restoration efforts continue.

Extended School Year (ESY) & Summer School
There will be no ESY programming within the Manheim Township School District and no students will be transported out of the district for ESY on Tuesday, July 7.

In addition, Summer School at LRIS and Bucher Elementary is postponed for Tuesday, July 7.

Summer Meals Update
The Summer Meals Program at Bucher Elementary remains canceled due to the ongoing power outage. Free breakfast and lunch will continue to be available at Schaeffer Elementary:

• Breakfast: 9:00–9:30 a.m.
• Lunch: 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

We encourage any child impacted by the storm, including those still experiencing power outages at home, to take advantage of this free meal service.

Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and understanding as utility crews and district staff work to safely restore operations. We will continue to keep our families and staff updated as additional information becomes available.

Please continue to use caution around downed trees, power lines, and other storm-related hazards.

**Important Update for Monday, July 6**

Due to the severe storms that moved through our area last evening, several Manheim Township School District buildings sustained damage from downed trees and power outages. For the safety of our students, staff, and community while cleanup and utility repairs continue, Bucher Elementary, Landis Run Intermediate School (LRIS), Nitrauer Elementary, and the District Office will be closed on Monday, July 6.

Extended School Year (ESY)
There will be no ESY programming within the Manheim Township School District and no students will be transported out of the district for ESY on Monday, July 6.

👩‍🍳✨ Day 2 of Culinary Training is in the books! ✨👨‍🍳

Another great day of learning, collaborating, and creating is complete! Our team has been hard at work sharpening their skills and preparing some exciting new menu items that will be coming to Manheim Township schools this fall.

We even had a surprise guest stop by to see all the action—our very own Dr. Hudacs! 😍 He had the opportunity to sample some of the delicious new offerings, and we loved sharing a sneak peek of what's in store for our students.

We can't wait to bring these fresh flavors and new favorites to our cafeterias this school year. Stay tuned...there's more to come! 💙🍎

🎉 Happy Retirement, Reta! 💙

Today marks Reta's official retirement, and we couldn't let this special day pass without celebrating her incredible career and the impact she's made over the past 28 years.

A rough estimate:
💙28 years + 180 days = 5,220 school days
(28 × 180 + 180)
💙650 students per day = 3,393,000 student visits
💙2 meals per day = 6,786,000 meals served

🎉🎉💪That's approximately 6.8 million meals served during Reta's career—a remarkable legacy of nourishing students every school day. 💙

Reta began her journey with FMS in 1998 at Manheim Township as a part-time warehouse café employee before serving in both the middle school and high school cafeterias. In 2006, she joined the Manheim Township team full-time, serving as Site Leader at the High School, Lead Receiver, and ultimately as Site Leader at the Middle School.

Throughout her career, Reta has been a constant source of support, kindness, and dedication. Whether lending a helping hand to a coworker or ensuring students were served with care, she has made a lasting difference in the lives of so many.

Thank you, Reta, for your years of hard work, commitment, and the positive spirit you brought to our team every day. We wish you a retirement filled with happiness, good health, and all the time to enjoy the things you love most.
