๐คฉ๐๐What an incredible day of collaboration, learning, and culinary creativity at Manheim Township School District Manheim Township
School Food Rocks and the PA Pork Board brought together school food service directors, cooks, and cafeteria staff from Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties for an inspiring all day Farm to School learning experience. Participants had the opportunity to network with representatives from the National Pork Board, PA Pork Board, PA Pork Producers, PA State Rep. Dave Zimmerman, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, and Pasa Sustainable Agriculture (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture).
๐ฅ๐จโ๐ณ๐ฝ๐ฉโ๐ณThe highlight of the day was a market basket-style cooking competition, where teams worked together to create delicious dishes that were later shared and enjoyed by everyone for lunch. A special thank you to our local friends at Arcobaleno Pasta Equipment, right here in Lancaster County, for demonstrating their incredible pasta-making equipment and providing a delicious addition to the competition.๐๐คฉThe pork bolognese sauce over FRESH pasta was absolutely unforgettable! ๐คฏ

๐ We are incredibly proud of our Manheim Township School District Cafรฉ Team! ๐
This year, our dedicated cafรฉ staff served an amazing 963,309 meals to our studentsโgetting us closer to our goal of 1 million meals!
Even more impressive, they served 62,176 more meals than last year, demonstrating the growing impact of our nutrition program and the exceptional work of our team.
Every breakfast, lunch, and snack represents a commitment to ensuring students are nourished, ready to learn, and supported throughout the school day. Our cafรฉ team's hard work, care, and dedication make a difference in the lives of students every day.
This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our families, who continue to invest in our cafeteria program by choosing school meals for their children. We are also grateful to our building administrators, whose partnership and support help create a positive dining experience and encourage student participation across the district.
While we didn't quite reach the 1 million meal milestone this year, we're excited for the challenge ahead. Next year, we'll set our sights on that goal once again!
Please join us in celebrating and thanking our outstanding Cafรฉ Team, our supportive families, and our building administrators for helping make this incredible accomplishment possible. ๐๐๐ฅช๐ฅ

What an incredible evening on a PA beef farm hosted by the Pennsylvania Beef Council for their first ever event: Girls That Grill! ๐พ๐ฅ๐ฅฉ๐คฉ
Food Service professionals came together to celebrate farmers, locally raised beef, and the amazing flavors of summer while learning the art of grilling beef to maximize texture, flavor, and the overall eating experience.
As a district participating in the PA Beef to Schools Program, this experience was especially meaningful. ๐ We learned about best practices for preparing and grilling/cooking of beef, explored marinades, gained a better understanding of different cuts of beef, and discovered cooking techniques for all the cuts if beef to bring out the best quality in our locally raised beef from Masonic Farms.
The highlight of the evening was enjoying a delicious farm-to-table meal right in the field, surrounded by beautiful views and great company. We were also treated to a personal tour from the beef farmer himself, giving us a firsthand look at the care, dedication, and hard work that goes into raising quality beef.
Experiences like these strengthen our connection to local agriculture, support our farmers, and inspire us to bring high-quality, locally sourced foods to our schools and communities. ๐๐๐ฎ
