Yesterday was the first lesson in our 4-H science enrichment program with 5th graders at Lancaster Elementary School, VA. Our topic was states of matter and student started off by physically acting as molecules in a solid, liquid, and gas. We read a book to reinforce the topic and played a states of matter game where we demonstrated our matter can change states. Finally, students wrote a story about their journey as a water molecule changing states throughout the game.

We love working with our teacher partners to bring 4-H into the classroom!

A Household Hazardous Waste Collection will be held TOMORROW, Saturday, September 12 from 8 A.M. - 12. P.M at the Lancaster County Courthouse parking lot. PLEASE NOTE that this is a time change from events held previously.
At this event Lancaster County residents have the opportunity to properly dispose of hazardous and electronic household waste at no charge to them.

This position is a great opportunity for someone interested in community health, nutrition, healthcare, or outreach.

Up to 10 hours/week with flexible scheduling
$22.50–$25.00/hour, based on CHW training status
No previous CHW training required — training will be provided at no cost
September 2026–July 2027
