ILE is so excited to formally introduce Mrs. Jessica Walton as our new Assistant Principal. Mrs. Walton has jumped right in and is already making such a positive impact on our students and staff!

❓ Question: What inspired you to become a teacher?
📣 Answer: I have been in education for 27 years, including the past 10 years serving at Harrisburg Elementary as both a classroom teacher and a school counselor. I’m honored to become part of the culture of excellence at ILE and look forward to getting to know each of you, collaborating with the incredible team of faculty and staff, and supporting our students and families.

❓ Question: Where are you from and what brought you to Indian Land?
📣 Answer: I am from Florida but my family has called the Indian Land community home for the past 16 years. We relocated here from Charlotte because of the great schools located in Indian Land! My two oldest children graduated from Indian Land High School and this fall my youngest started her freshman year at ILHS.

❓ Question: What is something that you enjoy doing outside of the classroom?
📣 Answer: I love being a part of the Indian Land community so please come up and say hi if you see me cheering on the ILHS football teams on Friday nights, catching a new release at Redstone, or shopping for essentials at Target!

Ms. Cruse’s ELA class became competitive text-evidence experts as they dove into their HMH story! 📚🏆 Students were racing to find the best evidence, support their thinking, and prove their answers. Their correct answers turned into rock, paper, scissor war with Ms. Cruse. We love seeing learning turn into a little friendly competition! 💙💛
