The philosophy of a leader MUST be louder in their actions than their words.

Last time you had a MOE Visit or an ERO visit did you feel the results of their love and care?
Was the relationship pivotal to the visit?
I always believe that it is critical every interaction models the behaviour and culture we want to establish.
Our last ERO visit was a joy and pleasure...
They saw us ... Heard us.. Trusted us ... And acknowledged our flight.
Just as we need too see, hear, trust and believe in children the umbrella services that are there to support us need to model this kaupapa.
We all respect those whose mouth... Hands ... Heart and feet align.

Human Rights are a Very New Thing - Baby Rights are Yet to Come.
The first declaration of Universal Human Rights was drafted in 1945-46 and adopted in 1948. 'Society' had advanced to the place where it was agreed humans have rights. The UN Declaration of Children's Rights had to wait until 1989 - and Infant and Toddler's rights are yet to come. Yes of course babies and toddlers are children and human. The problem is, too many people do not treat babies and toddlers as human, and consequently they don't enjoy the same consideration, rights and courtesies we adults expect.

Babies and toddlers have a right to their childhood - a childhood which is as FAR from what education has in mind for them as the Sun is from the Earth. Children in full time care need to be experiencing real life, not artificial activities that are disconnected to life. They need to be able to absorb life unfolding around them as they freely potter and tinker in their play. They need to be able to experience the ordinary with joy, as it is then it becomes extra-ordinary. Seeing the magic in every day moments is the key of ‘being’ a heart centred teacher.
