Protest Tree! Free Speech? Protest Only? What about censorship and its history?

The application to participate in Protest Tree: Finding a Middle Ground is still open! Interested students must apply by noon on Sunday 2/17 here: bit.ly/MGParticipant . All are encouraged to apply. Selected participants will be notified Sunday evening.

Protest Tree: Finding a Middle Ground is a Jubilee Media-inspired unique event where six students exchange their perspectives on eight questions focusing on the use and intent of the protest tree at Franklin & Marshall College. This event on Thursday, Feb 21 from 7 - 8 PM at Adams Auditorium (Kauffman) is intended to create a baseline understanding of the protest tree and its history at F&M. Post-event, students are highly encouraged to vote on whether guidelines should exist for the protest tree. Pizza will be served! Brought to you by Diversity Committee and sponsored by Diplomatic Congress.

Beginning today, the Diversity Committee will begin a series on here called Faces of F&M. With this new project, we are hoping to highlight the diversity on our campus by giving students as well as faculty and staff a platform to share their stories and thoughts. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
The first student we will feature is Cesar Silva.
Class of 2021
Pronouns: he/him.
From Philadelphia and is a proud Dominican.
“As a predominately white institution, I don't believe the campus is diverse enough yet. Although there is a small growing population of minority students on Franklin and Marshall's campus, it is not nearly enough. In F&M's future, I would like to see an even bigger growth of minority students attending F&M. Furthermore, I would like to see the growth of diversity reflected throughout not only the student body but also with the faculty and the various clubs and organizations on campus. It is important for diversity to spread throughout all facets of student life to encourage dialogue and conversation about not only the issues on campus, but local and global issues that impact us all.”
