Smoketown's Fourth Grade Team held a fundraiser at the end of the year for one of their Final Math Performance Tasks. Students picked a local organization to donate money. They decided to hold a Bake Sale at the school and donate to the Pennsylvania SPCA. πΎ
They raised $514.50! Students used daily math skills to bake the food and sell the items. They developed communication skills through Infomercials in the school and advertising the event. Finally, they developed interpersonal skills by selling food to younger and older peers.
Tyler Herr from the SPCA came to Smoketown last week to receive the check and talk to the students. It was a wonderful closure to a successful event! β€οΈ π

As the year comes to a close, we want to take a chance to highlight some of the successes in our elementary schools across all buildings, grade levels, and departments. π
We also want to call attention to the highly successful AIM Early Reading Pilot at Leola Elementary. We are so excited and encouraged by the initial feedback and results.
Have a great summer, CV!
