Early Head Start Lancaster

The Sixth Ward Park is great place to host our Early Head Start socialization!

Many thanks to our Executive Director, Matt Stem, for taking the time to join an Early Head Start home visit earlier this week. Mr. Stem was able to engage with the family, as well as understand the intentionality of our work.

Students and families from Kindergarten through High School in the Ephrata Area School District attended the ESL Resource Fair at Fulton Elementary School. Families who attended spoke various languages, including Arabic, Bengali, Dari, Haitian Creole, Pashto, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, and Ukrainian.

It is time to register for the Summer Playground Program!

Get ready for another exciting summer with Lancaster Rec’s FREE Summer Playgrounds & Wading Pools Program! 🛝💦

📅 June 8 – July 31
🗓 Monday – Friday

Youth ages 6–13 can enjoy 8 weeks of games, activities, outdoor fun, and access to our SIX wading pool locations across the city. Free lunch is served daily at 11:30 AM for all children 18 and under, and pools open at 12 PM so kids can cool off during the summer heat!

My Head Start journey began in 1991 in rural NY as a home visitor.

Supporting families to engage with their children through play, reading, and nutrition. Transporting families to doctor, dental and WIC appointments and together times.

Since 2016 my current role is an Early Head Home Visitor and Head Start Family Service Worker.

This work is intentional and purposeful. I support families with their goals, parenting, nutrition, health and safety. There is so much more in between. A meaningful relationship is formed and grows in trust and strength from prenatal to school age.

The strength behind what I do every day is valued and acknowledged with our leadership, at the Lancaster Lebanon IU13. I feel recognized, heard and valued.

We had a phenomenal turnout at our first outdoor socialization of the season this week at the Sixth Ward Park! Socialization is an important part of our Early Head Start program. Children and families have the opportunity to interact with each other and make connections.
