I had a great day with Pearland ISD world language teachers! We practiced some dynamic, engaging speaking and writing strategies and then had time to plan for their implementation in our classes. I absolutely love a make & take day!! 💕

Made it out in the middle of a tropical storm and spent a couple of lovely days with Spotsylvania County Schools visiting classrooms! I’ve been able to work with some of these teachers for a couple of years now and it’s so great to see them in their element!

This week, I spent four days with Spotsylvania County Schools elementary schools. We planned strategically inclusive structured conversations, practiced vocabulary strategies that intentionally incorporate images, speaking, and writing, and I modeled these strategies with kids from kindergarten to fifth grade. I love the work we get to do together and feel so lucky to get to come back to one of my favorite towns so often!

Thank you to Tomball ISD for hosting a couple of ELPS trainings last week! I had the chance to work with a few middle schools and elementary schools, focusing on strategies that enhance language for EVERYONE, in small and organic moments, with structures that help students be successful. This rounds out my beginning of the year ELPS trainings for this school year and it was a great way to end it!

Yesterday I had the privilege of covering ELPS updates with elementary and middle school electives teachers, librarians, early childhood special education and life skills teachers, and behavior support teachers. It was a great reminder that language is EVERYWHERE and language supports help everyone. Our job is to find where communication naturally happens and amplify it with scaffolds and strategies that support students. Thank you Pearland ISD for having me!

Huge shout out to teachers at Frostwood Elementary School for starting the week strong with thoughtful conversations about ways to weave more language into daily lessons. The ELPS Flipbook gave us a great guide to determine what we are already doing well and what we could amplify a little more this year. Cheers to the start of a great year!

Closed out last week with Mansfield ISD secondary teachers! We took their understanding and implementation of QSSSA to the next level and for them ready to target structured conversations from day 1!

Spent the day in Spring Branch ISD at Rummel Creek Elementary and Wilchester Elementary! We learned about the updated ELPS, discussed student supports, and planned how we can increase language usage in our classes.
