Our junior high students have been stepping into the fascinating world of photorealism in Art Class! Students have been learning about the work of American painter Glennray Tutor, known for his striking photorealistic paintings, and are putting their skills to work recreating one of his best-known pieces, Trio.
As they explore artistic illusion, light, reflections, and attention to detail, our students are discovering new ways to express their creativity and bring their artistic visions to life. We are blessed to see them develop the unique gifts and talents God has given each of them, reminding us that creativity is one of the many ways we can reflect the beauty of our Creator. ✨🎨

Swash plate. Flight yoke. Rudder. FLIR night vision. Several of our classes added some exciting new words to their STEM vocabulary last week! Mr. Brian Goff, SJNCS parent, Certified Flight Instructor, and owner of ParaFlight, LLC, captivated our students as he shared stories from his experiences in aviation, introduced them to the many career opportunities in the field, and demonstrated the STEM principles behind different types of aircraft. One of the most important lessons he shared was one our students know well from STEM class: trial and error is part of the process! In the real world, you can't simply give up when something doesn't work. You keep asking questions, trying new approaches, learning from your mistakes, and finding a way forward. We are grateful to Mr. Goff for giving our students a glimpse into the exciting world of aviation and showing them how the STEM skills they are developing in the classroom can take them to new heights! 🚁🔬✨

We are sure that all of the SJNCS moms are thanking the PTO for providing dinner tonight! (Well, at least the ones who ordered Moe's Taco Kits from the PTO!) It made the car pick up line even more fun on a Friday afternoon!
Thank you to our AMAZING PTO from all of us! Just one more reason to love them!

We are so blessed to have the opportunity to practice and grow in our faith together as a school community! Today, our students gathered to pray our first All School Rosary of the year in celebration of Mary’s birthday on September 8.
We also took a moment to learn about the upcoming beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen this Thursday. Archbishop Sheen created the World Mission Rosary, featuring color-coded beads that many of our students used today. Each color represents a different continent, reminding us of our call to “embrace the whole world in prayer.”
What a beautiful sight to see our students praying not only for one another, but for people and families around the world. May their prayers continue to be a source of faith, hope, and peace for the world! 🌎🙏💙

Working together in teams, our sixth grade students had to design and build an elevator to safely transport passengers up and down using their knowledge of simple machines. Each elevator needed to have a shaft, a car, a motor (cranking device) and a cable. While each passenger was safely carried up and down, one elevator was extremely full - holding 230 passengers! Hold the door! Great job future engineers!

We LOVE it! Whether we are looking from high above or running around inside, we are thrilled with our new gym! We are looking forward to making lots of memories, creating lots of fun & cheering on our Mustangs in this new space. We are so thankful for all of the very generous donors who have made this space possible for our school & parish!

How do you tackle making a meeting fun? Snackleboxes! SJNCS Principal, Ms Henry, kicked off the first faculty meeting of the year by providing snackleboxes to each of our teachers with the promise to offer additional snacks at future meetings! 🥨🍿🍬

What a wonderful way to begin the school year! We were so excited to celebrate our first Mass today with Fr. Greg, SJN’s new Parochial Vicar. Father was ordained as a Dominican Friar eight years ago and, originally from Ghana, has spent the past two and a half years serving in the United States. He shared how happy he is to be at SJN, where he has already experienced such a warm and welcoming community and a wonderful spirit of togetherness.
We are so excited to welcome Fr. Greg into our classrooms throughout the year and to share in his joyful and exuberant spirit! We are blessed to have him as part of our SJNCS family. Welcome, Fr. Greg! ❤️

Guess the Composer!
Each month our Fifth Graders are challenged to figure out who the Composer of the Month is in Music Class. Each week they are given a different clue: photo, musical period, and a snippet from some of their greatest masterpieces. Students are free to research the composer outside of class and the goal is to be one of the first students to provide the mystery composer's name to Mrs. Knouse, SJNCS Music Teacher. (If you know the answer, don't tell any of our Fifth Graders!)
