𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐀𝐮𝐠. 𝟐𝟖 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 to give more community members an opportunity to learn about this new volunteer initiative, we've moved the training to a new date.

This event was originally scheduled for Monday, July 27.

This session serves as both the required Valued Volunteers training and an introduction to Together We Read, our districtwide initiative that connects volunteers with students to help strengthen reading skills. You'll receive volunteer information along with practical strategies and resources to support young readers.

The FREE Summer Wading Pools and Playgrounds in Lancaster city are open through July 31st (Closed Friday, June 19 and Friday, July 3)

The Summer Playgrounds & Wading Pools program is a FREE, 8-week drop-in program for youth ages 6-13. Free lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. for all children 18 and under. Wading pools open at each site at 12 p.m. so kids can cool off from the summer heat.

Children ages 6-13 are welcome to use the wading pool. Children ages 5 & under must have a parent or guardian in the water with them. Children 3 & under must wear a little swimmers baby diaper. A Lancaster Rec supervisor visits each playground at least once each day.

The Summer Playgrounds & Wading Pools program keeps the following schedule:
11:30 a.m. – Playgrounds open and a free lunch is served to all children 18 and under
12 p.m. – Wading pools open
3-3:30 p.m. – Wading pools close for a break, snack is served to all children 18 and under
3:30-4:30 p.m – Wading pools are open

The Rec asks that caregivers register online children on your first visit to the Summer Playgrounds & Wading Pools program. Please be respectful of the playground leaders and follow the program rules. Smoking is not permitted at any of the playgrounds.

Ross Street United Methodist Church will have a food box giveaway on Saturday, June 13. Pickup begins at 10:30am and goes until the boxes are gone. The church is at 312 E. Ross Street. Please enter the church parking lot from Ross Street.

NO paperwork is needed. They expect more guests than usual and will limit the number of boxes per car, in order to help as many families as possible.

Ross Street UMC will also serve as a pick up site for Power Packs on Thursdays from 4-6:00 pm this Summer. The program is for families with school age children. This is a 9 week program. Sign up for the program is at this link:
