This weekend, Andi Fellows attended the 2026 Delta Waterfowl Expo to showcase an environmental conservation program she developed in partnership with Delta Waterfowl, providing our IU 13 students with hands-on environmental stewardship learning experiences.
While at the Expo, Andi was also honored as the 2026 Educator of the Year! 🎉
We are excited to continue this partnership and create even more engaging outdoor learning opportunities for our students in the future!

In coordination with the Delta Waterfowl Organization, Andrea Fellows led in-school field trips for our classes at CEC, IDT, and STW at Burle. The events included three hands-on learning stations:

Drone Station - Students worked collaboratively to operate drones and identify/map waterfowl and environmental features, simulating real wildlife tracking.

Duck Call/Duck ID - Students practiced duck calls and used them to attract decoy ducks, then identified species using reference sheets.

Goose Painting & Wood Duck Box Building - Students painted decoys and helped build nesting boxes that will be donated for wildlife use.

Special thanks to Mrs. Chamberlain and Mr. Monroe from IU13, and Mr. Matt Kneisley from the Delta Waterfowl Organization for assisting these events, as well as Mrs. Andrea Fellows for planning the events and securing grant funds for the programs. This collaboration makes these events possible for our students. 🦆

Andrea Fellows, IU13 STEM teacher , planned six amazing field trip experiences for all our classes at CEC and IDT during the last two weeks in April. Through funding from a NEEF Grant, members of Lancaster County Recreational and Educational Center provided engaging lessons and experiences for our center-based classrooms. Student learned about Lancaster Wildlife, went on a hike through the park, and spent time assisting the park pulling invasive species plants. National Environmental Education Foundation - NEEF

Students in our Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 Lebanon County Autistic Support classrooms explored creativity and technology using Sphero BOLT during a fun painting activity with one of our OTs, Michelle Weisman.! After practicing driving and controlling the Sphero, students became artists using this adapted medium. Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 classrooms from Ms. Boyer-Beyler, Ms. Tomlinson, and Ms. Voshell enjoyed turning technology into art. 🎨🤖

Collaboration leads to meaningful learning! Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 teacher Mary Wenger worked alongside Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 OT Erin Weidner and PT Samantha Donmoyer to introduce students to a cause-and-effect lesson using Air Toobz from our STEM Lab. Students were excited to experiment with buttons and observe how air flowed through the tubing at different angles.

Students in Mrs. Zunino's Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 class at Smith Middle School in Solanco played music a little differently, they used a robot called Dash and the xylo attachment! Students were able to touch the screen to add their own notes. They chose which tune they liked the best. Students were creative, responsive, and social during this STEM lesson!
