Welcome Week is rocking at !

Congratulations to Kevin Cordi, associate professor of education at OHIO Lancaster, on his selection as a 2026–27 Human-first AI Initiative Faculty Fellow!

Led by the Ohio University Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, the fellowship provides faculty with a $2,500 stipend per semester to critically examine and document generative AI use cases in higher education.

Kevin will focus on the relationship between human agency and AI, exploring how educators can value human-centered practices while thoughtfully experimenting with AI.

We’re proud to see Kevin representing OHIO Lancaster in this important work!

Congratulations to Dr. Patrick Drumm, associate professor of psychology at Ohio University, whose firsthand experience with groundbreaking chimpanzee language research is featured in a February 20, 2026, National Geographic article.

Long before becoming a professor, Dr. Drumm worked as a research assistant on this pioneering research, giving him the rare opportunity to witness firsthand the work exploring chimpanzees’ ability to communicate using American Sign Language.

Decades later, his firsthand perspective helps bring this remarkable chapter in the history of animal cognition and communication to life in National Geographic.

We’re proud to see Dr. Drumm’s experience and expertise represented in this fascinating story. Congratulations, Dr. Drumm!

Our Lactation Room, Room 316A, is located in the back portion of Student Services and is available free of charge and ready to use at any time.

The private room is designed with comfort and convenience in mind and includes:

- A sound machine
- A mirror
- Reading materials
- A private, welcoming environment
