We’re traveling back in time this session! Learners become heroes living in Ancient Greece. Using their imaginations, they enter into Athens as their chosen Greek character and explore the city. They earn coins by completing hands-on challenges which can be used to play games with caregivers at their exhibition.

Learning CAN be fun! We integrate compelling narratives with high-stakes challenges, and invite the learners to play the game. Instead of a grade they receive warm and cool feedback from peers and visitors so they can continue to grow 🌱

Socratic questioning is a method that encourages critical thinking and deep understanding. It’s named after the ancient Greek philosopher, Socrates, who believed that the best way to learn is through thoughtful discussion and questioning.

Instead of simply telling learners the answers, our Guides use Socratic questioning to allow them to discover knowledge on their own. They ask open-ended questions that encourage learners to think deeply, analyze information, and justify their reasoning. Through this, they practice critical thinking, problem-solving, self-direction, and lifelong learning.

The Socratic discussion room is one of the most cherished spaces in our studios ❤️ I’ll be posting examples of questions that our learners examine throughout the year!

We're a learner-driven school, which means we focus on inquiry-based learning, collaboration, and self-governance. That includes our learners leading and guiding younger ones and providing value within their studios.

One middle schooler is planning to build something for his friends and they spent the morning discussing the needs of the studio! We can’t wait to see what they choose 🔨
