Founded in 1971, Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU 13) has worked diligently with the 22 school districts in Lancaster and Lebanon counties, as well as with students in nonpublic schools, preschools and adult education programs, to improve the lives of students of all ages. Since that time, the Adult Education Program has served 70,000 in classes including English as a Second Language (ESL), GED, ABE (Adult Basic Education), Family Literacy, Citizenship, Vocational ESL, Health Careers and Basic Skills, Preparation for Ready2Work, and Math Instruction. It is the goal of the Adult Education Program to provide adults with a quality learning experience so that they will be successful in their roles as workers, family members, and citizens.

Sheila is currently in Math 2 class, having completed Math 1. She's taken her GED Ready in Math and knows what skills she needs to improve in order to pass that test. Having already passed the science test, Sheila is getting closer to earning her diploma and enrolling in training to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. We're excited for her!

This summer, we hosted students who are studying for the TEAS exam (Test of Essential Academic Skills necessary for entering several programs in the medical field) for a special session that focused solely on the English Language Usage and Reading portions of the exam. They all had a great time getting to know each other (as evident by all of the smiles in the picture!) and studied hard. Some are continuing to study with the IU13 in the fall, and some are scheduled to take their tests to continue in their educational journeys. Wherever they are in this process, everyone at the IU13 wishes them success for their futures! We would also like to thank St. Joseph's University's Lancaster campus for hosting us this summer.
