✝️He is Risen✝️

Christ died. Yet, He rose out of the grave after defeating death itself to grant us new life through Himself, allowing all who believe in Him to have a relationship with Him. We have a future hope because of Him, and He deserves all the glory and honor. Praise be to Him!

Good Friday

Jesus, our beloved savior, suffered the most gruesome death imaginable. Not only was he beaten, a crown of thorns placed on his head, and nailed to a cross, but he was betrayed by one of his closest friends, mocked by everyone around him, and his father turned his face away from him. Join with us in appreciating what Christ Jesus did for us on the cross on this Good Friday.

Best wishes, Dr. Thor!!!
This semester, the MWPA Department said farewell to Dr. Paul Thorlakson, or as many know him, Dr. Thor, as he becomes a Minister of Worship and Music at The Village Church at Shell Point in Fort Myers, Florida.
Over the years, Dr. Thor has played many roles in the MWPA Department since coming to LBC in 2015. Of those ten and a half years, Dr. Thor served as chair of the Department for nine of them; however, this was not his only role. Dr. Thor taught piano, theory, and musicianship lab. He accompanied recitals, juries, and other performances and served as the musical director for several LBC musicals.

One of his greatest achievements here at LBC was leading the MWPA department through the accreditation process with the National Association of Schools of Music.

Concert Recap!!

If you missed it, there have been two concerts in the past couple of weeks. The first of these was the Instrumental and Percussion concert titled “One Nation Under God.” Under the guidance of Director Doris Hall-Gulati, both music and non-music LBC students, and members of our local community performed patriotic songs and excerpts from some of your favorite movies and musicals, introduced by some of our students, and a piece from one of our composition majors, Seth Lanford.

The second of these concerts was the Choral concert at the Trust Performing Arts Center, titled “Forever Exalted.” Directed by Robert T. Gibson, the Women’s Chorus, Men’s Chorus, and Chamber Singers performed a series of worship songs, with student soloists, as well as a feature of LBC’s very own Dr. Jeffrey Martin.
