Ever tell your loved one about an appointment or activity, and suddenly it’s the only thing they can talk about? Or maybe they retell the same story on loop?

If so, you know the feeling! Their brains can get stuck on certain ideas, events, or words—kind of like a real-life Dr. Seuss book, but without the catchy rhymes. 🌀

It’s not about them trying to hound us or get their way - it’s just that their brain is having trouble moving on to the next thing. Patience is key! 🗝

Helpful strategies include using routines, prompts, redirection, or offering extra support when they get stuck. You can also try visual schedules or setting a timer to gently help shift their focus. What others have you tried? 💡

ISOLATED & ALONE NO MORE!

Greetings and Hello! My name is JJ DunhamReed.

I am a passionate advocate for increasing FASD-informed wrap-around resources and supporting families of loved ones with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder(s).

After launching myself into the International FASD Advocates community in 2021, I still struggled with the challenge of being isolated and feeling alone in my daily life as a caregiver of kiddos with FASD.

This guy (Jeff Noble) has big goofy ears and is an FASD caregiver who saw a need and began to build a community to fill that need.

Have you seen my FASD Intervention Algorithm? 😜

Okay, I’m being a bit cheeky here, but the point is simple: If things are working, keep doing what you’re doing! 👍

But when it stops working (because, let’s face it, life throws curveballs), it’s time to shake things up and try something new. Flexibility is key!
