Congratulations to Gavin Lane on earning the State FFA Degree. Gavin’s diligence in leadership, service, scholarship and his Supervised Agricultural Experience made this distinction possible. We are proud of his accomplishment. Gavin will now pursue his American FFA Degree while he begins his pursuit of a B.S. in Agricultural Education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College this fall. Way to go, Gavin!

Last night we celebrated all of our members’ successes and achievements at our 2nd Annual FFA Awards Ceremony. The ceremony was student-led and showcased their leadership skills and abilities. Students made the decorations, flower arrangements, wrote the script and program, and made the awards. This year’s Star Greenhand is Isaac Porter, and the recipient of the Blue & Gold Star Award is Hannah Hudson.

A special thanks goes out to the Culinary Arts program for providing the cake for refreshments after the ceremony.

Our Flowers for Mom event at North Elementary was a huge success. Students selected plants for their mothers today. Happy Mother’s Day!

Today we were privileged to have Eric Brunsvold of Tall Oak Builders address our chapter meeting. Mr. Brunsvold shared his expertise in business and entrepreneurship.
Originally from Iowa, where he was awarded the state Star Award in Agribusiness, Mr. Brunsvold also shared how FFA prepared and shaped him for personal and career success.

Our Meats Evaluation CDE team placed 3rd overall and is headed home with some hardware for the wall.

The meats evaluation and technology event provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the meat animal industry, equipping them with valuable employment skills and knowledge of meat animal products. Participants will develop analytical skills, critical thinking, and an understanding of meat terminology, which are essential for optimizing economic returns and meeting consumer needs. The event emphasizes cooperation, communication, and the evaluation of meat products through various individual and team activities. By participating, students will become knowledgeable consumers and potential industry professionals, fostering a deeper connection to the meat animal industry and enhancing their future career prospects.
