In 1965, a $300,000 bond issue was passed for the construction of an elementary school. Land was purchased in the western part of the city beginning at the southwestern corner of Fourth and Willis streets to build the new elementary school called West Oaks Elementary. After some time in the military, wh

ere he served overseas in the Korean War, he earned his Master's degree in Educational Administration, with a minor in psychology, from Southwest Texas State University. He taught and was an assistant principal at a middle school in Victoria, TX. He returned to Lampasas in 1960 where he taught for six years as a physical education and math teacher. Whitis served as the principal of West Oaks for 20 years before retiring in 1986. In 1988, West Oaks Elementary was renamed Kline Whitis Elementary in honor of Mr.

Kline Whitis Families,
To give our students and staff time to adjust to new schedules, practice routines, and get settled into the school year, our cafeteria will be closed to parents and visitors through August 24.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to make the beginning of the school year as smooth and successful as possible for everyone! 💙🖤🤍

Items not allowed on LISD route school buses



Tubas – Drums – French horns – Saxophone – Euphonium – Guitars – Trombones

Animals/insects (alive or dead)

Glass items of any kind

Flowers (for birthdays or any holidays) MUMS for home coming are allowed.

Balloons for any occasion

Plates of food covered with foil, cellophane or any other wrapping. (We will accept sealed containers such as Rubbermaid or Tupperware)

Skateboards

Sports Equipment (Baseball bats/Golf Clubs/Flags from Color Guard/Rifles from Color Guard)

Fishing poles

Oversized school projects. Backpacks & other items must fit in their lap only.

Aerosol cans

Furniture of any kind

Food is prohibited (students like to bring popcorn, candy, cupcakes, peanut butter crackers, chips and cookies on the bus that they have left over from lunch or they gain it from the school).



**If students can put flower designs made for class projects in a paper bag or plastic bag and sealed closed, we can work with that.
