"I know we can unite our communities through the power of education” I was raised in Lamont and graduated from Arvin High School.

I'm Yovani Jimenez, and I'm running for a seat on the Kern Community College District (KCCD) Board of Trustees. As the son of immigrants and a first generation college student, I know the importance of higher education. Education can change the trajectory of a family for the better; I experienced it first-hand having grown up working in the fields and later earning two degrees that set me on a pat

h to success. Because I experienced the plight of rural families myself, I know higher education is even more important in communities like the one where I live in Arvin-Lamont where the degree attainment rate is as low as 2%. I am committed to advocating for and serving those in need, and have proven that through my work, volunteer, and public service experience. Go Bears! I continue to live and serve my local community as a resident, volunteer, and committed public servant. I would be honored to serve my community as a KCCD Trustee and hope I have your vote on November 3, 2020. Let's do this!

This weekend, I took part in the first session of the 2025 Water Education for Latino Leaders (WELL) fellowship program. The program educates local elected officials about California's water policy issues. Our cohort participated in workshops and had the opportunity to visit both the Coachella Valley and the Salton Sea.

Attending the EducationUSA Forum: Connecting You to the World was a fantastic experience. Educational representatives from 40 countries conducted sessions on recruiting, retraining, and providing supportive services to international students. The teams from Kern Community College District and Bakersfield College made meaningful connections and are excited about expanding our international program by increasing the number of international students, specifically those who want to follow pathways in renewable energy, healthcare, industrial automation and agriculture.

Looking forward to the exciting collaborations on the horizon! 🌍📚

It was wonderful to hear about the growth, successes, and future plans of The City of Bakersfield - Government during the State of the City Luncheon hosted by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber. A special thank you to the City Council and Bakersfield city staff for steering the city in the right direction. I am excited for the present and future of Bakersfield on its path to becoming the 8th largest city in California.
