Lamoni Community Schools Lamoni Community School District is located in South-Central Iowa, roughly 5 miles from the Missouri Border, in Lamoni, Iowa.

The school district consists of three centers - elementary school, middle school, and high school (which are all connected). The elementary school is a regional and state leader in curriculum development. It was one of the first schools in the state to develop a natural approach to reading and writing instruction. The faculty has also added manipulatives to the math curriculum and adopted cooperative learning across several grade levels. The elementary school is fortunate to have one state-funded preschool classroom that can serve up to 20 children. The middle school has a variety of special features including team planning, exploratory courses, and age appropriate social activities. The high school offers an excellent array of courses on the home campus and through cooperative programs with Southwestern Community College on the campus of Central Decatur High School and Graceland University. The cooperative program through Graceland University provides students with the ability to attend university level courses for which they can receive college credit. The school enjoys strong community support and an active booster club.

October is National Principals Month, and we want to celebrate the remarkable leader guiding our entire PK-12 family: Principal Amber Fairbanks!

Leading a school that spans from preschool all the way through 12th grade is an extraordinary undertaking. Principal Fairbanks does it with unmatched dedication, balancing the needs of our youngest learners with the aspirations of our oldest students. She truly is the heart of the Lamoni school community.

Thank you, Principal Fairbanks, for your tireless work, positive energy, and commitment to creating a safe and excellent educational environment for every student.

We have invested in our schools over the years without seeking additional financial support from our community. These projects include:

✅Constructing the safe room in 2012 that connected the elementary school to the rest of the campus.
✅Replacing the Ag building's roof.
✅Replacing the chiller at the elementary school.
✅Providing integrated HVAC at the middle school to replace window units.
✅Installing air conditioning in the high school gymnasium.
✅Replacing every classroom door with a mortise lock for interior locking capability to provide a higher level of protection.
✅Purchasing and installing new security cameras.

Our district also generates significant annual savings thanks to partnerships with Graceland University that prevent us from having to build and maintain a football field, baseball and softball fields, and a performing arts venue.

However, some of our facility needs extend beyond what our annual budget can address alone. On November 3, our community will vote on a general obligation bond issue for Lamoni Schools.

If approved, we will use a combination of bond revenue and state sales tax dollars to restore the elementary school, make exterior repairs at the middle school, and enhance safety and security systems and update mechanical systems at the high school.
