The Northern Cheyenne Tribe has another challenge and that is keeping our Morning Star High School that we worked so hard to build for our young children. The crisis is accreditation. Our High School is in danger of losing their accreditation with the State of Montana. Our 7 and 8th grade students are not meeting the standards for accreditation. Our high school students will soon be in jeopardy if the students and school do not meet the accreditation standards. Parents, please get involved. The community will be asked to be part of improving the school. there will be meetings organized. As this process moves forward with the Montana Office of Public instruction, we will learn what we need to do to get back in good standing. I will encourage the High School to set up a communication link, so we will know when the meetings are and how the improvement process is proceeding. The Montana Office of Public Instruction will be assisting the High School. They want to help us succeed and keep our school so does the State Board of Education. I will also be involved in this process and I will do my best to keep you informed.

With school staring, parents send your children to school.
Attendance is part of the accreditation criteria. If your child is struggling with their studies, help them out at home or get the school to assist you. Become involved in their education. This is so important.

Colstrip Johnson O'Malley student supplies can be picked up at the New Tribal Education Department building. The schooi supplies are missing some items but due to budget cuts from the US Congress we cannot purchase some of the supplies. The students and parents should pick up the school supplies as soon as possible so parents can purchase the missing items missing from their supply list. Parents should submit a copy of their fee receipts for reimbursement. The TED media center is now up and we will be able to do zoom meetings for parents who cannot attend the meetings. We have not had a quorum to do business.
