Hack the Brain! Applied Neuroscience and Spiritual Practice 02/18/2021

Jim Hickman, who'll facilitate Saturday's Hack the Brain! Applied Neuroscience and Spiritual Practice webinar, is a man with quite a history.

> His first mediation teacher was Michael Murphy, the co-founder of the Esalen Institute
> He and Murphy were two of the principal founders of the Citizen Diplomacy movement during the heart of the Cold War. He helped create a series of scientific and cultural exchanges between the US and the Soviet Union
> Jim was an assistant to Stanley Krippner, the pioneer researcher into the study of consciousness. Jim worked at the Maimonides Hospital Dream Laboratory with Stan. With Stan’s encouragement, Jim began working in the area of Kirlian photography and managed to capture some uncanny images with the Israel psychic, Uri Geller.
> He and his lifelong colleague, Jim Garrison, transformed the Michael Fox-founded Wisdom University into Ubiquity University, an accredited global university designed for social impact.

As co-founder of Ubiquity University, Jim teaches the popular Applied Neuroscience course, which provides students foundational practices for use in developing enhanced cognitive, emotional and spiritual skills

This Saturday, Jim will lead us in an exploration of how a Neuroscience-informed spiritual practice can help us deal with the unpredictable challenges that accompany increasing hyper-complexity in the 21st century.

The Sacred Inclusion Network is excited to host Jim's inaugural practicum on this subject, this Saturday from 11am-12:30 pm EST.

We hope you'll join us.

Capitol Uprising 02/13/2021

Capitol Building Uprising: A Sacred Inclusion Perspective by Bill Kelly

I imagine there are Americans with a spiritual outlook who are wondering how to feel and think about the events of January 6, 2021 at the Capitol Building in Washington DC.

For me, it is definitely challenging to come up with a response that is true to my own spiritual worldview and does not simply reflect my clear dislike of the protesters and what they stand for.
Practicing sacred inclusion means to oppose the action, not dehumanize the person; to not feel superior to those with whom we disagree; to see those who upset us as people struggling to evolve just like us; to educate people by example; to not blame others but take action to make things better for all. It also means to understand what so upsets us about our “enemies” and to work on ourselves so that we can treat them with respect. In fact, when Trump supporters make us angry, that is a good reason for finding ways to bridge the gap with them by learning more about their lives, situation, and grievances.
