Advanced Horsemanship Certificate: Two-year certificate program building upon the skills and knowledge acquired in the Starting Colts certificate program. It combines hands-on experie

nce with a one-semester internship with a professional trainer. Admission to this certificate program requires successful completion of the Starting Colts certificate program, or permission of the program instructors. Fundamental Horse Training Certificate: One-year certificate program designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills needed to train horses. Starting Colts Certificate: One-year certificate program designed to provide students through hands-on experience with the skills and knowledge needed to break colts for riding. What an incredible day at the National Western Stock Show as we celebrate the future of the West β€” and the future of our students!

Lamar Community College is honored to celebrate two of our students who were selected as inaugural recipients of the Betty Knoebel Scholarship, each receiving $10,000 toward their education in the equine field. We are very proud of our students and the way they represent LCC.

We are incredibly grateful to the Knoebel family for their generous investment in the next generation of equine professionals and to the National Western Stock Show for creating opportunities that will have a lasting impact on students pursuing careers in the equine industry.

As the future Betty Knoebel Arena and Equestrian Center take shape, so too does the future of our industry β€” and we are proud that two LCC students are part of this exciting chapter.

The colts have officially arrived! 🐴🀠 Today marked their first day in the round pens as our Horse Training & Management students begin the hands on work of starting this year’s colts.

The learning starts from day one: building trust, communication, confidence, and a solid foundation. We can’t wait to watch these young horses progress throughout the semester! 🐎πŸ’ͺ
