Dear Parents, Guardians, and Families,

This week, our schools are focusing on creating calm learning environments.

Calm does not mean that classrooms are always quiet or that students never become frustrated. Learning can be challenging, active, and sometimes messy! What matters is helping students learn how to respond when something doesn't go their way.

At school, we're helping students pause, manage frustration, solve problems, and try again. These skills connect to our Portrait of a Graduate traits of Problem Solvers and Ready to Thrive. Learning how to work through difficult moments is important in school and throughout life.

🌱 Milestones Moment – Feelings

Learning to understand and manage feelings takes practice. Children often learn how to handle frustration by watching how the adults around them respond.

Gentle Challenge: Instead of saying, “Calm down,” try asking:

“What do you need to be ready to try again?”

Reaching any future goal will include challenges along the way, which makes learning to adjust and try again an important skill today.

The future of Lamar Volleyball is looking bright!

Our youth teams have been putting in the work at Lamar High School this week, building their skills, learning the game, and getting ready for the upcoming rec volleyball season!

Numbers are up this year, and we love seeing so many young athletes excited about volleyball. We can’t wait to watch them continue to learn and have fun throughout the season!
