No, this isn’t an actual picture of me, but somehow it captured the feeling behind everything I have built.
Many years ago, Arc en Ciel Preschool was just me, a few children, and a dream in my living room. I was a young mom trying to build something meaningful while raising my own children. I had no idea that one day we would grow into a licensed preschool, offering bilingual programs, fundraising for playground improvements, and creating a community that feels like family.
What this picture doesn’t show are the countless late nights, the paperwork, the tears, the doubts, the cleaning, the licensing visits, the staff meetings, and all the moments I wanted to sell or give up, these moments where I wondered if I could really do this…
It also doesn’t show the people who made this possible.
My daughters, who have grown up alongside this school and have shared their mom with hundreds of children over the years. My son Atlas, who soon will be part of this adventure too. My incredible teachers, past and present, who have poured their hearts into these classrooms. And ALL of the families who have trusted us with their most precious little humans.
One thing I am especially proud of is that we don’t just teach Spanish.
We celebrate culture.
Our children learn songs, traditions, holidays, food, stories, and customs from across the Spanish-speaking world. They learn that language is more than words, it’s people, history, family, and identity. While the world argues about differences, we’re busy teaching children to embrace them. 🤍
What makes me the proudest is watching my teachers bring their own cultures, experiences, and traditions into the classroom. Every one of them has helped shape Arc en Ciel into what it is today. Their heritage, their stories, their families, and even the involvement of their families have helped create the warm and welcoming community we have become.
Arc en Ciel was never supposed to become “just a preschool.”
It became a village 🥹
A place where children are loved, where cultures are celebrated, where families connect, and where everyone belongs.
I am endlessly grateful. ❤️
