As the new school year gears up, please pray for and remember the Lutheran Schools that are still around Cleveland. They could use prayers and support. The LSGO is a great way to support them and you can pick which school receives the funds you donate. Also, you can claim it on your Ohio state taxes.

The LLS staff moved on to Holy Cross Lutheran School and would love to see the wonderful people who supported LLS support Holy Cross as well.

Spreading the word about the wonderful work the Lutheran schools do helps too.

Holy Cross, Bethany, Messiah, St. Thomas, Royal Redeemer, St. Paul Westlake, Grace Preschool, Lutheran West and Lutheran East, Luther Memorial. May God continue to guide our schools, bless His workers, and send support and love to the schools that are still carrying forward His mission.

Someone recently said that "We shouldn't invite the devil to sit at our table." Closing private schools that teach about God and Jesus seem like inviting the devil into our lives.

LLS did more than teach kids how to read, write and count. We showed them a Savior who loves them and wants to be a part of their lives through our words, actions, and amazing discussions. We showed them love, compassion, consequences, grace, mercy, kindness, patience, and tried to create a safe space to help them begin to discover who they are as people. Staff gave a piece of ourselves so parents, students, and co-workers could do more than just survive but find a way to thrive in a world that wants them to fail and not believe in a loving God. We were not perfect, as only Jesus is, but we gave our all.

As the teachers and staff pack up the last pieces of their LLS lives and move on, we have one more request. Please keep supporting schools like Holy Cross, Messiah, St. Thomas and the others with prayers, and financially if you are able to. There are far fewer Lutheran schools than there were 30 years ago. LLS had a lot of financial support over the years to make it to 120 years of being Warriors for Christ. These schools are still fighting to educate students and teach about God. The devil may have won a battle in the closure of LLS but we know God will win the war.

Yesterday it ended. Not with a giant celebration but with families and teachers walking to cars after one last day at the park with some tears in their eyes. Happy to have made it to the end of another school year but also sad that there will not be another one with all of us all together. A picnic by the lake, kids playing (and screaming) and chasing each other one last time. We had one last pizza day, one last happy birthday song to sing. Parents sitting and talking about summer plans while the kids played. Then at noon, we said our goodbyes and moved forward towards our cars because life doesn't stop even when you don't want to say goodbye.

Please pray for the LLS students, staff, and families as they move on to new adventures. Pray for the staff as they go back to finalize grades, send off records to other schools, and pack up classrooms that spent years being put together. Pray for the people that decided the school closing was a good choice and for those who wanted to keep the school going and growing. May LLS memories live on in the hearts of the people who were blessed enough to be teachers, students, and others who were impacted over the years. Lastly, may our LLS food pantry continue our legacy even if the school no longer exists because serving others is part of our core values.

As we sang at the end of everyday: The Doxology.

"Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen."
