Anthony Young ’13 has never been a stranger to rewriting history. Long before he was coaching the next generation of elite athletes, Young was blazing a trail through the record books at St. Edward High School. A Medina native who got his start at Open Door Christian School, Young arrived at St. Edward and immediately transformed its athletic landscape. Inspired by the relentless support of his parents, Jackie and Mike, his round-the-clock work ethic quickly elevated him into a rare multi-sport powerhouse for the Eagles.

Young’s name became synonymous with historic firsts. In 2010, he helped anchor the Eagles’ football team during a perfect 15-0 season, capturing the school's first Division I state football championship. The legendary squad was inducted into the Howard F. Ferguson Hall of Fame in 2025.

Then, in 2011, defying expectations as the youngest sprinter in the field, he shocked the state by winning the 200-meter dash. This victory marked the first state champion sprinter title in St. Edward history.

By the end of his high school tenure, the All-Ohio wide receiver and track standout was a 13-time state champion, having secured eight individual and five team titles while guiding the Eagles to back-to-back indoor and outdoor state track championships in 2012 and 2013.

His dominance continued at the collegiate level. Young balanced football and track first at Indiana University—where he earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in the 200-meter dash—and later at the University of Akron. A consummate student-athlete, he claimed Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-MAC honors, won six MAC track championships, and set Akron’s school record in the 4x100 relay (39.95).

After earning his bachelor’s degree in education in 2017 and landing workouts with two NFL teams, Young returned to Northeast Ohio. Today, he resides in Akron with his wife, Gabby, and their children, Nova (3) and Adonis (1). Passing on the discipline that drove him to excellence, Young now works as a sports performance trainer at Paradise Sports Performance in Canton, reshaping the future of Ohio athletics.

Join the celebration on October 15 as Anthony Young '13 is inducted into the Howard E. Ferguson Athletic Hall of Fame! Please RSVP by October 2. Get your tickets today: https://bit.ly/4zG1uEA
