But this Sunday morning, some of our Juniors chose to show up and put in the extra work—getting ready for their 26-hour Junior Black Belt Test this October.

That takes focus.
That takes grit.
That takes perseverance.

Confidence doesn’t come from simply hoping you can do something. It grows every time you stay focused, push through a challenge, and prove to yourself that you can finish what you started.

These students are doing the work and putting in the time

That’s why they will be Black Belts. 🥋

One of the things we love most about Power of One - Lakewood is that our dojo has always been about more than martial arts. It’s about family.

We know there are grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and other loved ones who would love to be sitting on the side of the mat watching every class — but distance, work, health, life, or simply circumstance doesn’t always make that possible.

So today, these pictures are for you.

The smiles. The friendships. The silliness. The hard work. The new stripes and belts. The moments when they struggle, the moments when they succeed, and all the little moments in between.

You may not always get to be here to see it in person…

but you are still part of their journey.

And we hope that every picture and video we share gives you a little window into the place where your kids and grandkids are growing up. ❤️

Every black belt was once a beginner.

Confidence isn’t built in a single class or earned in a single moment. It grows through years of showing up, listening, practicing, making mistakes, and trying again.

Focus keeps us moving forward. Confidence grows when we look back and realize how far that focus has taken us.

Focus builds confidence.
