We are very proud to announce that our 2025-2026 Lakewood Middle School Student Government has been awarded the Community Smile Award. This award is presented by the NJASC, the New Jersey Association of Student Councils. Students accomplished this through dedicated commitment from each member of their group in achieving their Community Service hours goal for the school year.

Together, they had over 250 community service hours. All of their community service hours were dedicated to serving the Lakewood Community. We want to thank Dr. Winters, Ms. Mazzeo, the administration, staff, parents, and students of LMS for their support in helping them reach their goal.

On Friday, Lakewood students, staff, and Lakewood Police Department proudly participated in the 43rd Annual Torch Run to help kick off Special Olympics Weekend!

The Torch Run is a statewide event in which law enforcement officers and community members carry the “Flame of Hope” across New Jersey to raise awareness and support for Special Olympics athletes. The run helps promote inclusion, celebrate the accomplishments of individuals with intellectual disabilities, and build stronger connections within our communities.

Thank you to everyone who took part in supporting Special Olympics athletes and celebrating determination, achievement, inclusion, and community spirit!

Lakewood High School proudly hosted its Scholarship Night on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The evening began with a dinner reception that provided students and scholarship donors the opportunity to meet and connect before the award ceremony. During the ceremony, approximately 77 scholarships totaling more than $60,000 were awarded to deserving seniors. Many of these scholarships were made possible through the generosity of local businesses, community organizations, and alumni groups committed to supporting our students' futures.

The excitement and gratitude displayed by the scholarship recipients were matched only by the pride of their families and supporters. We congratulate all of our seniors on this well-earned recognition and celebrate the dedication and perseverance that helped them achieve this milestone.A special thank you to Ms. Aslin and the Lakewood High School Counseling Department for their hard work and dedication in organizing such a meaningful and memorable evening for our students.

Our students had a wonderful educational experience and were able to participate in several hands-on activities related to the healthcare field. During the visit, students practiced skills such as administering injections, taking vital signs, and dental assisting procedures. They also interacted with current students who demonstrated proper phlebotomy techniques and discussed their experiences in the program.

Throughout the trip, our students were respectful, well behaved, and highly engaged. They asked thoughtful questions and demonstrated a genuine enthusiasm and interest in the medical and dental assisting programs offered at the school. It was an excellent opportunity for students to explore potential healthcare career pathways and gain exposure to real-world clinical skills..

Please join us in congratulating:
• Jose Vidal – Wrestling at Utica University

These accomplishments are not achieved alone. They are the result of students who stayed committed to their goals, families who supported them unconditionally, and coaches who pushed them to be their best.

The Lakewood High School Army JROTC program recently participated in the Commander’s Cup competition held at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (Fort Dix). This event brought together JROTC cadets from schools across the region to compete in a variety of military leadership, teamwork, and fitness events, including Pull Ups, Sit Ups, Shuttle Run and 1 Mile Run.

Our cadets represented Lakewood High School with professionalism, discipline, and determination throughout the competition.

Participation in events such as the Commander’s Cup provides students with valuable leadership development opportunities while strengthening teamwork, confidence, communication skills, and school pride.

The cadets demonstrated outstanding conduct and commitment, reflecting positively on both the JROTC program and the Lakewood High School community. Opportunities like this continue to reinforce the core values of citizenship, leadership, and service that are central to the Army JROTC mission.

Thank you for your continued support of the Lakewood High School Army JROTC program and our cadets.
