Soroptimist International of Lakewood/Long Beach CA - USA

This club is part of Soroptimist International whose mission is empowering women and girls Every member accepts a Run assignment.

Our club meets at lunchtime from September through June, on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. The meetings are hybrid -- in-person and via Zoom -- to accommodate those who cannot get away at lunchtime. Women interested in attending a meeting should contact the club president via email at [email protected]. Our annual fundraiser is The Lakewood Run, which is held on the first Saturday of March. The Run is a co-production with the Lakewood Sheriff's Station. We partner with other area clubs and schools to provide career mentoring for girls through the federation's Dream It, Be It program. We also use the proceeds from the Lakewood Run to fund cash grants to women pursuing their educational goals through the Live Your Dream program. In addition, we participate in volunteer opportunities in the Lakewood community.

Back to School and we are serving our community, especially the female athletes of Lakewood High School! Club members responded to a social media post by the Coach of the Lakewood High School Girls Flag Football Team for furnishings, decor and games for the new team bungalow. We bought and framed 18 colorful posters of famous female athletes with inspiring quotes as well as a variety of games. Several club members got together to deliver the games and hang the posters with the help of the coach and the girls.

This weekend, the Soroptimist International of Lakewood/Long Beach Board came together for our annual Board Retreat—dreaming big, setting goals, sharing ideas, and planning an incredible year ahead! 💙

There’s something powerful about a group of women coming together with one mission: to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in our community.

We’re excited about what’s ahead—more impact, more connection, more service, and of course, a little fun along the way!

Here’s to an amazing year of women supporting women and turning ideas into IMPACT!

Soroptimist International of Lakewood/Long Beach is now accepting applications for our Live Your Dream Award for Women! 🎓✨

This award is designed to support women who are working toward a better future for themselves and their families through education, career training, or vocational programs.

You may qualify if you:
✨ Are the primary financial provider for yourself and your dependents
✨ Are enrolled in or accepted into an undergraduate degree or vocational/skills training program
✨ Have a financial need

💰 Local Award: Approximately $1,000
📅 Application Deadline: November 15, 2026

You may not personally qualify—but you probably know a woman who does.

Think of the mom going back to school.
