& SJB Trading Places! Today, Bosco seniors walked the halls of Saint Joseph alongside their SJ sisters. Some Braves found new skills in Culinary Arts and Studio Art, while others learned some new moves from Ms. Azurin in Dance class!

SJ & SJB Trading Places! The Jesters had fun mixing in with the Braves for the day! At Bosco, SJ seniors were spotted picking fruits from the Bosco garden in Agricultural Science and setting up a photoshoot with Bosco’s Yearbook staff.

Today, SJ’s Hearts of Hope hosted the "Wigs for Warriors" fundraiser. For a minimum donation of $5.00, SJ students, faculty, and staff wore wigs and hats in support of cancer patients and survivors.

Hearts of Hope, formerly known as the SJ American Cancer Society Club, is on a mission this year to raise $10,000 to support cancer research organizations, donate wigs for cancer patients, make care packages for pediatric cancer patients and their caretakers in the hospital, and more. As many of us have been personally affected by cancer, Hearts of Hope wants to help ease the burden for all those in need of love and support during and after their battles.

SJ Athletics Fall Sports Highlights !(Sept 18-24):

Golf:
SJ Golf took the W against Bishop Montgomery on Sept 20.
Natalia Pe (Soph) was the leading scorer, followed by Tressa Blas (JR).

Tennis:
Congratulations to Varsity Tennis as they defeated St. Monica High School on Sept 21 , making it back to back wins for SJ tennis. Special shout-out to Gianna Marquez (Freshman) who subbed in for an injured player and helped her partner Keilah win a 6-0 round.

Flag Football:
SJ defeated St Bernards 30-0 on Sept 20.
Outstanding Athletes of the Game

(Offense) Maleah Minjarez had 10 catches for a total of 105 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Maria Murillo had an Outstanding 49 Yard Touchdown catch where she Out Ran and Out Maneuvered several defenders for the score!
(Defense) Aubree Mellana led the way with 4 flag pulls
Lauren Felix was putting pressure all game by Rushing the opposing QuarterBack which directly led to a sack and two safeties!

Volleyball:
Congratulations to the FROSH SOPH team for going UNDEFEATED and winning the Whittier Classic FS Tournament! Great job to all the players and coaches.

Shoutout to our Freshmen team for making the Silver Bracket Finals of the FS Whittier Classic Tournament.

Our mothers’ guild hosted a wonderful wine reception in Chapel Court this evening. Our Fleur De Lis Guild is a great way to get involved during your daughter’s high school journey. A special shout out to our bartender and SJ dad, Mr. Mason! 🍷🧡⚜️

Embracing the Aloha Spirit, Saint Joseph’s CSJ Circle organized today’s fundraiser for Maui. For $5, students and staff wore Hawaiian attire with proceeds going towards the Maui Fire Lahaina through ADLA Society for the Propagation of the Faith. This local ADLA nonprofit is dedicated to providing assistance and relief to those in need on the island of Maui.

Meet Coach Kea Butler, the newest member of the Saint Joseph High School family. Engaged in the basketball arena for over two decades, Coach K started her journey as a standout point guard at Trinity International University, where she holds the record for assists and steals. Transitioning into coaching, her dedication led her last team to a memorable sectional championship. Honored as the Coach of the Year for the 22-23 season, Coach K now steps into her role as the SJ Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at Saint Joseph. Welcome to the SJ family Coach K!

Yesterday, SJ Peer Helpers visited the classrooms of our 9th and 10th graders to teach healthy study habits and time management skills. Thank you, Peer Helpers!

Ava DuVernay ‘90, continuing to make history! She is an inspiration to past, present, and future Jesters!

Ava DuVernay makes history at the Venice Film Festival after being told, 'Don't apply. You won't get in' Director Ava DuVernay made history this week as the first African American woman to have a movie in competition at the Venice Film Festival.

We want to extend a warm Jester welcome to our new golf coach, Dr. Terhsiu (Roger) Chen. Coach Chen comes to SJ with International PGA Master teaching experience. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge with the Jesters and taking SJ Golf to the next level.

Our Welcome Liturgy was a beautiful way to start SJHS Welcome Week. The freshmen received a ribbon in their class color from their senior sister. All new students and new faculty received a ribbon as well. We hope these ribbons serve as a reminder that we are all tied to the sisterhood of SJHS.
