Firefly Autism

Firefly Autism Firefly Autism is dedicated to celebrating the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum through learning, support, and solutions.

Since 2003, Firefly Autism has been changing the landscape of behavioral and mental health. Working with individuals from 18 months to over 70 years of age, we are one of the few places in Colorado where everyone, including adults, are not only welcome, but are also receiving support. With collaboration from families and other providers, we deliver services through individualized behavior plans an

d instructional goals that meet the client’s interests, values, and support needs. At Firefly Autism, we believe in using the principles of assent-based and values-based practices to ensure a person-centered approach to Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy.

🌱 We're so proud to share that PBS recently highlighted our Earl Lee Evans Sensory and Community Garden!

This outdoor classroom helps our learners build communication, coping, and behavior regulation skills through hands on activities like planting and harvesting. Designed with input from learners, staff, community members, and Skyscape Gardens, the garden also supports research into whether hands on food experiences can help learners feel more comfortable trying nutritious foods, with support from a horticultural therapist through Denver Urban Gardens.

Grateful to everyone who helped bring this space to life. 💛

"My first RBT job was at FireFly almost 9 years ago, and the dedication to supporting the Autism community has stuck with me all this time."

That dedication brought Kayla M. full circle! Kayla rejoined the FireFly team as Assistant Director of Center-Based Operations! There's no better endorsement of a mission than someone who returns to it years later. Welcome back, Kayla. ✨

“What does autistic pride mean to you?”

Today we’re highlighting the voice of Everdine A.:

“Autism, means seeing the world as beautiful, safe place. Autism individuals see the world 🌎 as beautiful, not the ugliness that is happening. They are so happy and engaging. My son taught me how to slow down and enjoy life. Open my eyes to things I haven't noticed before.” - Everdine A., Firefly Autism Parent

“What does autistic pride mean to you?”

Today we’re highlighting the voice of Austin S.:

“Over the last two years of my kids attending ABA, Speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, the growth I have seen in my kids has made me immensely proud not only to be a dad of two wonderfully individual kids but to be an RBT working towards a future where every kid with autism can not only overcome the challenges they face, but come out on top.” - Austin S., Firefly Autism Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT)

[A Learner] after being taught self regulation for many months independently gave himself squeezes to self regulate during a tough time.

-Firefly Behavior Technician

Behind every "without prompting" moment are months of patient teaching, modeling, and trust-building. Shoutout to our incredible technicians who celebrate these wins like the milestones they truly are, because a learner independently regulating during a crisis IS the win of the year. 🙌
