Parkview Family Daycare and Preschool

Parkview Family Daycare and Preschool

We will have two toddler or older spots opening 7/1. (24 months to 12 years)

We also do before and after school care with transportation to and from Twain, Riley and Madison.

1. They are not daycare workers, they are daycare teachers. Their lesson plan every day includes: how to share, how to have “nice hands” and “walking feet,” how to say please and thank you, how to walk behind someone without pushing, how to take turns, and how to have “listening ears.”

2. They are not just teachers. They are also janitors and nurses. They make boo-boos feel better and dry up tears. They spray, wipe, sanitize, sweep, mop, vacuum, and take out the trash.

3. They are waitresses. They balance little trays and cups of milk. They pick up squashed peas off the floor. Scoop peaches when they ask for more.

4. They change 5 dirty diapers, within 10 minutes, the day after beef and corn.

5. They get 12 little ducklings to follow in a row on their way to the playground.

6. They tie tiny shoes. Snap tiny pants. Fold tiny blankeys. Wipe tiny noses. Spend 5 minutes fixing the heels of tiny Converse. Multiply all of this by 12 on some days.

7. They are there before parents go to work and-or don’t go home until the last kid is picked up as the second hand ticks to closing time.

8. They lay out cots and pillows and blankeys and paci’s. They know who gets a pacifier, who gets a 6 oz bottle, who has to have all the lights out, who will wake up early, who came in late and will lay awake. They sit between cots patting restless toddlers to sleep. They spend the rest of nap time keeping the one early riser from waking the 11 others.

9. They go home and take care of their own families and homes, or their own children. They somehow find time to rest their tired feet.

10. They are patient and kind. They are trustworthy. They do their best with no promise of rest. They don’t enjoy disciplining, but do it with love. Their heart swells to see your child grow and learn and smile and play. They laugh at the funny things the kids always say. Say thank you to your daycare teacher. They love your child❤️
To All Of Our Fellow Providers:
This month, your child will go on a wild water adventure. She will begin by exploring the river. They will make a beaver puppet and make friends with an alligator. Then grab a fishing pole because your child will spend a week at the lake. She will design a sailboat and experiment with things that sink and float. Water is everywhere and is used for many different purposes. Your child will make soapy bubbles to wash pets and set up a squeaky-clean car wash. At the end the month, they will appreciate the wonder of water by exploring the water cycle, rainbows, melting ice and how to preserve clean drinking water.
Our preschool teacher provides parents with a portfolio of their child’s progress each year.
April - Dive into Reading!
We are a play based childcare but do have a preschool curriculum. Most children are here from 8 to 10 hours a day and we spend about an hour a day on Mother Goose Time fun academic activities.

More and more studies are proving that placing a young child in an academic setting behind a desk is detrimental rather than beneficial.

We need your help! Infant care is extremely impacted due to state regulations citing that any child under the age of two years is an infant. Other than childcare, every other publication the state of California puts out considers a toddler from the age of 1 to 3. We need the state to work with us on this and lower the age that children transition out of infancy in childcare programs. Please sign the petition and pass it far and wide.

This campaign needs you now Toddlers Are Not Infants - Childcare facilities are severely impacted.

Our infant spots are spoken for until September of 2024. Please email @ [email protected] to be added to our waitlist.

Why Scandinavian Babies Nap Outside In Cold Weather 08/28/2022

Toddlers who spent more time outside took fewer sick days — not just when they were napping outside. But, they say, “In other studies there wasn’t a difference.” So the scientific evidence for letting babies nap outside? Mixed, but it seems like common sense for many parents when compared with a germy preschool.

Why Scandinavian Babies Nap Outside In Cold Weather For many reasons, including avoiding germs, cultivating better sleep, and promoting a love of nature, Scandinavian parents let their babies nap outside.

Questions to Ask | First 5 California When choosing a child-care provider, asking some important questions and getting the information you need will help you make the best decision for your child.

Did you know that childcare centers are required to have no more than 1 "teacher" to every 12 students over the age of two? Can you imagine one person managing 12 two or three year old children? 😬
Here at Parkview we keep our ratios at about 4:1. Children get more individualized attention. We have almost no staff turnover (unlike centers) so your children have the same caregivers for the duration of their time with us. We have children here that have been with us for 10 years. Your child will grow up with the same children and the same caregivers and can often form lifetime bonds.

This month, your children will explore their natural curiosities and wonder about the world of science. They will have fun experimenting with their senses while exploring matter, mixes and reactions that make up the science of chemistry. In the physics lab, your child will investigate the mysteries of sound, light and forces. During the engineering lab, they will play with magnets, test out parachutes and build with shapes to test their strength. Biology and ecology round out the month. Your child will learn to classify living and nonliving things, encounter the phenomenon of animal adaptations, study germs and how to stay healthy, and learn ways to take care of the environment.

Did you know?
Home Based Childcare Converts and researchers, psychologists, and early child development experts confirm what home-based providers have known all along: a high-quality home-based childcare environment nurtures young children’s social and emotional skills while also growing their brains. A smaller group size–typically 4-6 children—and one caregiver throughout the day and often over several years builds lasting relationships between child and caregiver. This continuity fosters children’s sense of security and healthy interactions with others.
“What children need coming into the world is to be with a primary caregiver, or two, or three, including the parents,” according to Dr. Brenda Jones Harden, Professor of Children and Families at the University of Maryland. “That security is the foundation for how you learn language, the foundation for whether you take a risk and solve a problem, the foundation for how you learn to self-regulate. The best place to get that is in a home environment, which could be the child’s actual home, but can also be a home-based childcare environment or a child-care center that mimics the size and setup of a home.”
