Yesterday, our MEMS students stepped into the spotlight at Greater Cleveland Partnership's Best of Tech Showcase to present the innovative work happening at West Shore Career-Tech. It was a standout opportunity to plug directly into Northeast Ohio’s tech ecosystem, putting our students in front of local tech companies, business and technology leaders, workforce-development organizations, and regional colleges and universities. The room was packed with energy, and our students did an incredible job breaking down their complex micro-electromechanical research and hands-on projects for a diverse crowd of industry champions.

Getting in front of such an influential, plugged-in audience gave our team an invaluable platform to articulate their vision, demonstrate their technical skills, and build bridges between academic research and commercial application. Standing up and articulating the real-world value of their lab work to key stakeholders not only sharpens their professional leadership, but also underlines how MEMS is actively shaping the future of technology right here in our region.

Last week our 4th-grade teachers spent time unboxing, organizing, and diving headfirst into our new FOSS (Full Options Science System) curriculum, starting with the unit "Soils, Rocks, and Landforms."

Following the Board's official approval of this curriculum adoption this past summer, our educators are prepping to bring dynamic, inquiry-based experiments straight to our classrooms. From sorting kit materials to mapping out interactive lessons, the team spent the day ensuring everything is ready for a rock-solid start to the school year.

We can't wait to see our 4th graders put on their scientist hats and start exploring!

Today, the Lakewood High School Chamber Choir, directed by Rayna Brooks, was honored to sing the National Anthem as part of the Lakewood Fire Department's 9/11 Memorial Service. Thank you to the Fire Department for including our students in this solemn ceremony that honored our fallen first responders and all the other lives lost on that sad day in September 25 years ago. 🇺🇸
