Lakewood Child Care Center

Lakewood Child Care Center Lakewood Child Care Center serves children 6 weeks to age 9.

For 35 years, Lakewood Childcare Center has been a place where children learn, families find support and lifelong memories begin. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re also looking ahead to what comes next.

Former LCCC parent Nicole A. shared:

“I am so proud of the teachers and administrators who have overcome so many challenges over the years. From the separation from the hospital to the challenges with the city and most recently the pandemic. Their dedication and love for the center, the children, the families and each other continues to withstand the test of time. We are so grateful for being part of such a wonderful place!”

That dedication has carried LCCC through 35 incredible years, and our community has been beside us every step of the way.
❤️ If LCCC has been part of your family’s story, we invite you to help us continue that story for the children and families who will come through our doors next.

Your donation helps support Lakewood Childcare Center and our continued commitment to providing a place where children can learn, grow, play and belong. Thank you for helping us celebrate 35 years, and for helping make the next chapter possible.

🎪🚌🎓 When we asked families to share their favorite LCCC memories in honor of our 35th anniversary, some traditions came up again and again.

Beth E:
“My daughters still talks about the circus and all the great field trips”

Jennifer H:
“I do know that Sam always loved going to your wonderful preschool. He is 15 now and still has fond memories, especially the summer program. You had the best field trips.”

Brandon & Angie G:
“Even though Cade & Casey are 20 & 17 now, we still refer to scrambled eggs with cheese as ‘Grandpa Dan's eggs’, but the excitement of Miss Kathy & Miss Tara's circus was hard to beat!”

Kristen G:
“Keira remembers making a snowman out on the patio when she was in pre-k.
All 3 kids remember the Thanksgiving meal the center would have together, and helping to prepare food for that meal.
Keira also fondly remembers the ‘Someone Special’ breakfasts. ‘Delicious pancakes,’ she says. 😁”

Throughout these 35 years, we’re so grateful that these LCCC traditions have become part of so many families’ stories.

Maureen K.:
“We always loved the development sheets that came home with the kids but our most favorite parts were when the teacher added funny stories from the day. One of Robby's good ones is that he told his teacher that ‘Daddy beat Mommy’, which I am sure made the teacher pause. What he meant was that Daddy beat Mommy to LCCC to pick him up, haha!”

Dawn R.:

“When Aidan was being potty trained, he called my cell phone with the help of Miss Danielle and screamed I went poopy in the potty, mommy for the first time. I kept that voicemail for years until I moved to an iPhone.”

Jacqueline D.:

“My favorite memories are coming to pick up Luke from the toddler room and watching him ‘shake his booty’ while dancing with his teachers. And remembering Aston slowly learn to use the monkey bars in the great room. He was so proud when he could finally go all the way across.”

Thirty-five years of milestones, funny stories and ordinary days that turned into memories families (and our staff!) still talk about years later. 💙

Sometimes, you don’t realize how much a teacher meant until years later. ❤️
As part of our 35th anniversary celebration, Marci H. shared this story about her son Jake and Miss Kathy:

“Jake is heading to college, so we were cleaning out his closets to send stuff to Goodwill. For a boy, he sure did have a lot of stuffed animals growing up. As we were boxing them all up, he pulled a small gray elephant out of the box. It was handmade and not that cute. I gave him a look like ‘Really, that is the one you want to keep?’, and he puts it in his ‘keep’ pile and says, ‘Yes, I am keeping it. Miss Kathy made it for me.’ Jake and Miss Kathy had a bond. Jake would give her such a hard time in class, he couldn't sit still for story time or nap time. He always challenged her. One time when it was quiet time, he locked eyes with Miss Kathy and picked up a toy and threw it across the room to see how she would react. She never let him get the best of her, and always showed him kindness. Especially when she made him the gift of a stuffed animal that she made herself. Miss Kathy will forever have a place in Jake's heart.”
For 35 years, teachers have been at the heart of LCCC. We’re so grateful for the educators who have loved, encouraged, challenged and believed in generations of children.

As we celebrate Lakewood Childcare Center’s 35th anniversary, we’re sharing some of the stories our families and former students have shared with us. We have loved laughing and remembering as we read these stories, and we hope you’ll enjoy reminiscing with us, too.

Sydney B.:
“There were way too many memories I had from my years of day care but my favorite ones had to be from the cafeteria. To this day and I am about to turn 21, I still get asked why I put ranch on tacos and ketchup on eggs. All those weird food combinations came from all the years I spent eating lunch with my best friends in the little cafeteria laughing so hard I almost peed my pants before we got to play on the playground. In fact, I still am best friends with Erin Byrne and stay in touch with Cole Z. So the friends you make at LCCC can last a long time! And as far as I am concerned, my sister and I will put ranch on our tacos until we are 90!”

Nicole A.:
“We have so many fond memories from our time at LCCC. We especially loved the circus, kindergarten graduation and summer school age field trips. Most importantly, we cherish the lifelong friendships made that continue to thrive today so many years beyond our time at the center.”
We love hearing these stories of 35 years of friendships, laughter and memories that last long after your children’s time with us.. 💙 More to come!
