We’re heading into fall with a full and thriving OVS community in the South Metro, but we still have a handful of spots open for new families ready to find their Village. 🍂

Our Village School is a homeschool community built around connection, adventure, and meaningful experiences for kids and families.

OVS is so much more than classes.

Throughout the year, our families connect through field trips, meet-ups, book clubs, mom’s nights out, group camping, community events, service projects and so much more. It really is about building a Village around your homeschool journey.

We currently have just a few Explorer openings left for ages 6–9:
Tuesday: 2 spots
Thursday: 4 spots

Once those are filled, we’ll be completely full for fall.

Who do you know who would be great at teaching a shop class?

Our Village School is looking for a Wednesday Shop Guide to lead hands-on building and woodworking projects with our Adventurers, ages 10+, in Lakeville.

We’re hoping to find someone who enjoys working with kids, knows their way around tools, and loves helping young people turn an idea into something they can proudly take home. Teaching experience is wonderful, but the ability to connect with kids, guide them safely, and share practical skills is what matters most.

Sometimes the best people for roles like this aren’t actively looking for a teaching position - which is where our community comes in!

u🌲 Trailblazers is stepping into a new rhythm this fall!

Our Village School’s Trailblazers program is now a Thursday-only experience for teens ready for more independence, responsibility, challenge, and real-world learning.

Students will alternate between:

🏡 Hometown Days in Lakeville
Business coaching, trip planning, hands-on Learning Labs, collaboration, problem-solving, and project work.

🧭 Adventure Days around the Twin Cities
Carefully designed experiences that help students try new things, build confidence, and grow in independence.

Students will also participate in public selling opportunities and our new Behind the Business virtual masterclass series featuring real-world lessons from industry experts.

Trailblazers is designed for students ages 13-15, with motivated 12-year-olds considered on a case-by-case basis.

📅 Full-year program (10 weeks in Fall & 10 in the Spring; First Day is 9/17/26)
💵 $775 per semester

Do you have plans for your teen this fall yet?

Trailblazers through Our Village School is not just another homeschool class, playgroup, co-op or teen social club experience. It is a hands-on, real-world learning program designed for teens who are ready to take more ownership, try new things, and stretch themselves in meaningful ways.

Trailblazers:

• Plan and execute a fundraiser while learning how to organize a real event from start to finish and support a cause

• Work together to plan a group travel experience

• Explore different movement modalities 2x/week including boxing, HIIT, yoga, and more!

• Participate in Learning Labs led by guest instructors, with hands-on classes

• Launch a business and learn what it takes to bring a product or service to market

• Head out on Adventure Days throughout the metro for unforgettable experiences

• Build confidence + communication skills through improv drama

Trailblazers gives teens the chance to learn by doing, collaborate with a consistent group of peers, take healthy risks, and discover what they are capable of.

This program is for the go-getters. The idea people. The builders, planners, creators, travelers, and teens who want to take their learning to another level.

There truly is nothing else like it.

✨ We're Hiring at Our Village School! ✨

💛 Final Trailblazer Fundraiser Donation Totals 💛

One of the most meaningful parts of this project was watching students think beyond themselves and make intentional decisions about how to use the funds they helped raise.

Together, Trailblazers donated:
🐾 $653.23 to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 $613.12 to CUDDLE Outreach

In addition to these collective donations, students also chose to support causes and individuals that mattered personally to them, including:
• Animal rescue and welfare organizations
• Faith and mission-based outreach
• National park and conservation efforts
• Healthcare and family support organizations
• Community and humanitarian aid efforts supporting families experiencing hardship
• An adaptive athlete pursuing competition at the CrossFit Adaptive Games
• Local and personal causes meaningful to their families and experiences

This fundraiser was about more than dollars raised. It was about leadership, empathy, stewardship, and learning that young people can make a real impact in the world around them.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, sponsored, and cheered these students on. Your support made all of this possible. 💫

Kids, canoes, and a day on the water. 🛶

This week in our Connect class, our Adventurers practiced teamwork, communication, resilience, and outdoor skills while paddling together and exploring the lake. These are the kinds of experiences that build confidence in ways a classroom never quite can. 🌿 Thank you to our wonderful partners at YMCA Camp Gathering Pines and ymcadaycampstreefland for helping us bring this experience to our community!

There’s something really special about watching generations connect through music. 🇺🇸❤️

This week our Explorers had the opportunity to perform at a local senior living community as part of our music class showcase celebrating America’s 250th birthday year. From The Star-Spangled Banner to Fifty Nifty United States, Yonder Come Day, Country Roads, and more, the room was filled with smiles, singing, and so much joy.

One of the beautiful things about community-based learning is that it reminds kids their gifts can brighten someone else’s day. Music has a way of bringing people together — across ages, backgrounds, and generations — and today felt like such a meaningful example of that.

What happens when you see a problem, decide to solve it, and refuse to quit until it’s real?
You get stories like Leah Boomsma’s.

Leah is a licensed attorney, entrepreneur, inventor, and founder of Flipping Holder, a patented product she created after spotting a simple problem during a family trip. Instead of waiting for someone else to build the solution, she figured it out herself... from concept to patent to production to retail shelves.

Today, Flipping Holder has grown from a single Amazon product into a multi-channel business expanding into Walmart, all while being proudly manufactured in the United States and supporting a growing team.

What we love most about Leah’s story is that it isn’t built on shortcuts or overnight success. It’s built on curiosity, resilience, problem-solving, and the willingness to learn as you go... exactly the kind of entrepreneurial mindset we want our students to experience in Business Incubator.

We are so excited to be inspired and learn from Leah!
