The Hotchkiss School The Hotchkiss School is an independent boarding school located in Lakeville, Connecticut, founded in 1891.

We provide an unparalleled education to 600 students in grades 9 through 12. PRIVACY / ACCEPTABLE USAGE POLICY

Vocalists Michaela Springer ’27, Max Mudry ’26, and Serena Nam ’26 performed at Tanglewood last month with the 120-voice Berkshire Lyric Chorus alongside renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and the Boston Symphony Orchestra! They were invited by Jack Brown, who has directed the Hotchkiss Chorus for 20 years and is the long-time artistic director of Berkshire Lyric. Hotchkiss math instructor Justin Almeida (not pictured) also performed on stage with Berkshire Lyric. The Bearcats sang for more than 8,000 people!

Yo-Yo Ma was the featured soloist for the performance of Faure's “Cantique de Jean Racine.” This same work was presented by the Hotchkiss Philharmonic on May 2, when the Hotchkiss Chorus was joined by singers from Berkshire Lyric.

Students in Jason Larson's class, The Middle East: Prehistory to Alexander, dove into a handmade project on the first day of school. They made clay tablets and discussed the difficulties early scribes faced when they invented a system for keeping administrative records more than 5,000 years ago.
