Today was a HUGE day with lots of fun events at MIS! We kicked the morning off with our annual “Anything But a Backpack Day” and let me tell ya, these kids understood the assignment. There were so many fun and creative entries this year! After that we moved things outside for the Fun Run! Every student completed the course and we had some great times during the competitive portion of the event. Thanks to Mrs. Pinkerton for running the livestream during the race! Finally, after school we held our annual Fall Bash. Thanks to Mrs. Pinkerton and the Student Council for sponsoring that! It was a fantastic day with a lot of fun and hopefully your kids enjoyed it! As for staff…you’ll probably catch most of them napping at this point!

We’ll release winners for the Fun Run, Fundraising, and grand total raised for MIS on Monday! Have a great weekend!

Due to the torrential down pours during the 4th grade Ag Day Field Trip the Strawberry DNA station was shortened so our students didn't get the full experience. When that happened our teachers started making plans and figured out how to bring Strawberry DNA to MIS.

A huge shout out to Chloe Schannep for taking time out of her day to come to MIS to redo Strawberry DNA with our fourth grade students.

MIS 5th grade students traveled to the Acres Land Trust in Lagro recently for a field trip which got them in touch with nature and the natural resources we have in our area. Thanks to our 5th grade team, the Allen family, Indiana DNR, and Purdue Extension for collaborating to plan such an impactful trip for students!

Happy “Allie Kauffman Day” to those who celebrate! Our phenomenal 6th grade teacher and MHS coach is being inducted into the Grace Athletic Hall of Fame today. And, although she hates the personal recognition and accolades, she is so very deserving. Congrats on your prestigious honor! We can’t wait to see your new red blazer in the classroom and on the sidelines soon!

Congratulations to MCS teacher and coach Allie Kauffman.

MIS would like to wish a Happy “National Custodian Day” to our phenomenal custodial crew at MIS! Dwight, Doug, and Daphne keep MIS looking great. Their days start before dawn and finish after the sun sets and much of their work goes unnoticed because they do it when staff and students aren’t around. They are true unsung heroes. They’re a huge part of our team at MIS and we appreciate them and their efforts!

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our MIS 6th grade volleyball team for capping off a 14-0, undefeated season, last night with their win against the Rochester Zebras. This completed the first undefeated season in MIS athletic history and is worthy of recognition. Way to go athletes and coaches on a great season!

4th and 6th grade students had the chance this week to get out of the building for some great experiential learning on a couple of field trips! Our 4th grade took a trip to Chain O Lakes state park and had some great immersion into both Indiana History and Biology as they learned about the history of our region, as well as about plant/animal life and topography of our area. 6th grade took a college visit to Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne and took an immersive campus tour, while also engaging in a few STEM challenges sponsored by the university. What a great day with some dynamic learning opportunities!

MIS was busy last night with a variety of extracurricular activities! Our Game Club had their first meeting of the year and we had a great time interacting with one another while playing some good old-fashioned board and card games. Meanwhile, our intramural volleyball squads did a great job competing in some friendly competition in the gym. To cap it off, our 6th grade volleyball team took the court at MHS as a part of the Junior High “Pink Out” night. The Squires defeated Whitko in 2-0. It was a great night seeing our students do what they love!
