In 2002 we thought it would be a great idea to create "baseball cards" for our guest artists, students and teachers. We thought we'd put stats on the back of each card, like "CNPWAM". (Consecutive Notes Played Without a Mistake). But common sense prevailed.

On July 21, 1984 (40 years ago), because of this guy who grew up to be a fantastic artist and even a better human being, Barbara and I opened the National Guitar Workshop. For 28 years over 35,000 passionate students, hundreds of stunningly talented teachers and many of the world’s most gifted artists created a magical community where only one thing mattered – music.

Over the next few months, we will be posting pictures, posters and brochures from those years on my personal page and the National Guitar Workshop page. We hope you enjoy these remembrances, and please share your memories (and pictures) with us.
