Learn and Play Childcare

Learn and Play Childcare In-home childcare provider in Marblehead, Ohio that promotes a play-based learning philosophy. Hello all! A portion of our home is solely a dedicated play space.

My name is Sarah and with over a decade of experience, I have dedicated most of my adult career to working with young children. In that amount of time I have held many different titles; from babysitter, to full-time nanny, to preschool teacher and now I am a mama myself. My goal as a Type B In-Home Provider is to provide children with a safe and warm environment where they can play, learn, thrive

and feel right at home. By choosing in-home care, you are setting your child up for more individualized attention. Your child's experience at our home will be full of educational opportunities that include activities, crafts, sensory times, story times, outdoor play and monthly themes. I strive to not only provide quality child care but to enrich the lives of the little ones that step through our doors. We also have a spacious backyard, a large paved driveway and a neighborhood perfect for walks. We are a smoke free home that is clean, baby proof and safe. Most importantly though, we are a family that wants to provide the kind of loving and quality care that we would want for our own children. I hope that if you are looking for someone to care for the little one(s) in your life, you will consider me. I look forward to meeting you!

We carried over our Beaches & Summer theme all this month and have spent as much time outside as we can!

Water table fun, co****le, treehouse picnics, chalk, badminton, baseball and pirate adventures were just a few of our favorites 💚

We also had lots of dance parties and “shows” where the kiddos enjoyed showing off their dance moves and (voices of angles 😂) singing! And we celebrated a special little man turning 7️⃣!

We can’t believe how fast summer has flown by and we are looking forward to the next few weeks together before our big kids go back to school! 🥹

We are combining our Beaches and Summer theme with our Transportation theme for the next month because really, who doesn’t love ✨S U M M E R✨

We’ve enjoyed our outdoor time (despite this heat!) and soaked it up with lots of bounce house time, bubble blowing, swinging and exploring the backyard. The kiddos also role-played as mini professional cleaners and helped us get the water table back into tip-top shape 🧼

Inside, the kiddos have enjoyed the camping dramatic play area, complete with a “Camp Store” ⛺️ They’ve had fun playing at the sensory table with a starfish alphabet matching activity and sorting seashells by size. We’ve also gotten to make some extensive train and magnatiles creations 🥰

We also celebrated a special little love turning 2️⃣🎉 Here’s to the rest of July and the fun it has yet to bring!

April’s theme was “Down on the Farm”! 🚜🧑🏼‍🌾 We had fun with our different sensory tables. We practiced our barnyard animal counting and the different responsibilities of farm animals. The kids have enjoyed exploring our life cycle sensory table. A few fan favorites are the butterfly, the ladybug and the chick!

We also worked on our memory skills with some Farm Bingo and our cutting skills with some Animal Sorting. We set-up a “Farmer’s Market” dramatic play area that was a huge hit for the kiddos to role-play with.

This month also brought us our caterpillars! 🐛🦋 It has been so fun watching them grow, create their protective chrysalis shells and now finally show off their beautiful wings!

We have had fun with all of our warm weather activities and can’t wait to see what these little “animals” are gonna get into next month! 😉🐷🐮

We welcomed March with a fun new theme - Spring and Weather! ☔️🌈 We’ve had fun exploring our weather sensory bottles, practicing our counting skills and making flower arrangements 🌺

We celebrated St. Patty’s Day with a themed lunch, crafts and a “Feed the Leprechaun” activity center 🍀

Then we celebrated Easter with a themed activity center and it was a huge hit! The kids had fun matching egg shapes, working on color matching and of course, LOTS of egg hunts! The fan favorite was the Easter egg alphabet scavenger hunt 🥚🐣

We’ve kept busy with lots of magnatiles and blocks creations, art cart and indoor obstacle courses. We did get to go outside and burn off some energy a few times, but we sure are ready for warmer weather to stay! 🌞

This month’s theme focused on Love, Family, Friendship and Feelings 💕 We enjoyed learning about emotions and all the ways we can be kind. We did lots of themed crafts and celebrated Valentine’s Day with our little cuties. The kids loved the “Vet Clinic” dramatic play area, our “Love Monster” themed playdough tray and our sensory bin. We worked on our fine motor skills with our heart tracing activity sheets and sorting candy hearts by color. We’ve had a “lovely” 😉 month but we sure are looking forward to some Spring weather!

January’s theme was Winter, Ice and Snow Animals! 🐻‍❄️❄️🐧 We worked on our tracing skills and got some fine motor practice feeding our snowmen with some snow{cotton}balls. We had fun making snow themed artwork and picture collages.

The kids also loved “camping out” in the dramatic play area 🏕️ We played with lots of play dough, board games and had fun building train creations during these last few chilly weeks. One of our favorite activities though, was reading the interactive story, “The Mitten”. We’ve had a “snowy” good time, but we sure are looking forward to what February will bring! 💕

We can’t believe how quickly December flew by! 🎄

We had fun with our monthly theme of Christmas, Ornaments & Gingerbread 🎅🏼 The kids helped decorate the playroom and a few small Christmas trees. We also setup a “Gingerbread Bakery” dramatic play station and a “Post Office”. The kiddos enjoyed the gingerbread house making station and our jingle bell sensory bin We also celebrated a special little one’s 3rd birthday! 🥰

As always, I am so incredibly grateful to all of the families that trust me with their little ones. They bring so much love into our home and I love being part of their stories and watching them learn and grow ❤️

November was a time for “Thanksgiving and Thankfulness” 🍁 The kiddos enjoyed our “Pumpkin Patch” dramatic play area as well as our “Leaf Scavenger Hunt” table. We spent as much time outside as we could before the winter cold rolled in! But we also enjoyed lots of magnet & blocks building as well as some themed crafts inside.

We put on lots of “dance shows” and danced to the “Turkey Wobble” and the “Turkey Hokey Pokey”. We talked all month long about all of the things we were grateful for. We also celebrated a special little love’s 3rd birthday 🥰

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! 🧡

We are always sad to see our October theme go, but we sure had fun celebrating the last few weeks! 🧡

The kiddos enjoyed the Halloween sensory bin, making “potions” and “feeding ghosts” at our activity centers. We had lots of spooky dance parties and got crafty making witch hats and spooktacular art.

We also celebrated a special little babe’s first birthday! 🥰 We played outside as much as we could and we have had fun watching all of the leaves change. We are excited to see what fun November brings! 🍁
