Southwest Middle Academy

Attention Southwest Middle School Families:

Beginning this school year, students will not be able to bring backpacks to campus. All students are issued a laptop with a protective case, which is designed to safely transport their device and essential materials between home and school.

This change aligns Southwest Middle School with the backpack procedures already implemented at many other middle schools throughout the district.

Our goal is to enhance campus safety while ensuring students have everything they need for a successful school day. Students may carry their laptop case and any necessary school materials as needed. Students will be allowed to bring regular sized lunchboxes and/or a purse/fanny pack no bigger than half a sheet of paper.

Thank you for your support and partnership as we continue working to provide a safe and productive learning environment for all students.

Today marked the last day of school, and what an incredible year it has been! ☀️📚 We are so proud of all of our students for their hard work, growth, and accomplishments throughout the year.

To our amazing 8th grade students — we will miss you dearly as you begin your next adventure in high school! We know you are going to do amazing things, and we cannot wait to see all you accomplish in the future. ❤️🎓

📣 Dress Down Day is coming up on Thursday, May 28, 2026!

Southwest Middle School is proud to celebrate our amazing staff with a fundraiser supporting our faculty fund. Students may participate in a paid dress down day for just $2.00!

💵 Money will be collected beginning at 8:45 A.M. on the patio before school Thursday morning. Students who pay and meet dress down expectations will receive a wristband.

🚨 Please remember: students arriving out of dress code without paying will receive a dress code violation and will need a change of clothes.

❌ Not permitted: yoga pants, leggings, spandex, bike shorts, ripped jeans (unless tights fully cover holes/skin), pajamas, hats, short shorts, running shorts, crop/midriff tops, Crocs, slippers, or slides.

What an AMAZING time celebrating our students who achieved proficiency and earned incredible test scores! 🎉📚

Our students enjoyed an exciting celebration with the awesome DJ Faboloso keeping the energy high all afternoon! From red light green light and races to epic dance offs, the smiles and laughter never stopped! 🕺🏽🏃‍♀️🎶
