Interest in Your Future Scholarship
Part of leading the Lake Gibson FFA Alumni & Supporters Chapter is being good stewards with the funds raised throughout the year. Through investing donations and funds wisely, the last several years, the chapter has been able to turn the interest
earned into a sizeable scholarship called Interest in Your Future aimed at graduates planning to attend college or trade school. This year’s scholarship totals $2,000.
This year’s recipient writes, “This scholarship would help me pursue my goal of earning a degree in nursing while continuing to stay actively involved in the livestock and agricultural industry .. By combining my career in nursing with my ongoing involvement
in agriculture, I hope to set an example of leadership, responsibility, and service, inspiring others in my community to pursue their passions while giving back.” This year’s Interest in Your Future Scholarship recipient is Lily Harwell, who will be attending
Asbury University.

Willis Richards Scholarship
Created by Sharon Richards, this scholarship in memory of her husband, a longtime manager at the Lake Gibson Publix. Mr. Richards was committed to helping young men and women get a good start in life.
The first recipient writes, “ If I were to give advice to a new or current FFA member, I would tell them to focus on what they are interested in and to set a goal. I realized early on that I did not want to show market animals. I wanted to focus on horticulture and poultry projects. … Even with smaller projects, if you are consistent, work hard, and focus on your goals, you can be successful.”
Our first Willis Richards Scholarship recipient is Matthew Bath, who is currently planning to attend Polk State College this
Fall.
Our second recipient writes, “FFA is much more than just an agricultural club. It is a place where you can grow as a leader, meet new people, and discover opportunities that can shape your future. It is easy to join and only participate in the minimum activities, but the real value of FFA comes when you step outside your comfort zone and get involved.” Congratulations to Ryland Lund on earning the second Willis Richard Scholarship.

2026 Evans Family Ranch Scholarships
The first two scholarships are through our Evans Family Ranch Scholarship, which supports students who demonstrate leadership, dedication to agriculture, and a commitment to community.
The first recipient writes, “Through my experiences working with livestock and being involved in rodeos and barrel racing, I have developed a strong respect for the agriculture industry. These experiences have taught me responsibility, patience, and the
value of hard work. Caring for animals and preparing for competitions requires dedication and commitment, which are qualities that are also essential in agriculture.”
Please congratulate Madison Keller, receiving $2,000 to pursue
Agriculture Business at Warner University.
The second Evans Family Ranch Scholarship recipient writes, “Agriculture teaches responsibility, planning, and the value of careful decision-making, which are important skills for anyone involved in the field.” Congratulations, Raelen Sherouse!
