We’re so grateful for the Lakeland Fire Department and all of our other guest speakers that came to visit us this week for The Great American Teach-In. Our students enjoyed learning about the various careers and life paths they may one day be able to pursue!

Our Secondary students were amazing volunteers at the 16th Annual Rotary Salute to Veterans Breakfast last week. Around 250 were in attendance for this celebration of those that give their lives to protect our freedoms.

Cooking in the Classroom 👨🏽‍🍳

In our Montessori environment, cooking is so much more than a fun activity—it’s a meaningful work that helps children build independence, coordination, and confidence.

Our young chefs in both our Early Childhood levels and Lower Elementary took advantage of the season and baked pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie.

Through cooking, children:
•Refine motor skills
•Explore math and science concepts
• Strengthen language and sequencing
•Experience the joy of contributing to their community

Student Voice Matters!

One of the most powerful skills a student can learn is how to advocate for themselves. Whether it’s asking questions in class, seeking extra help, or asking the principal to change the candy policy for Halloween 🎃

Our Upper Elementary students put their writing lessons into action by spontaneously writing letters to the principal. We’re not sure if it’s enough to change the rule, but we are so proud of our students being clear, respectful, and confident.

🌿 Parent Involvement=Child Empowerment 🌿

We were so happy to welcome our families on campus for a morning visit this week!

When parents are actively involved in their child’s education, amazing things happen.

Parents are a child’s first teacher—and your involvement makes a lasting impact.

Movement of the hand is essential. Little children revealed that the development of the mind is stimulated by the movement of the hands. The hand is the instrument of the intelligence. -Maria Montessori

We are so proud of our Upper Elementary students and their partnership with Kiwanis through the K-Kids program. Yesterday the classroom participated in their induction ceremony and swore in their new officers. Members of the Lakeland Kiwanis community were also in attendance. We are so very grateful for their partnership and investing in the students at LMS!
