SOE Summer Snapshot

Meet Orelvis, a senior Secondary Mathematics Education major! This summer, Orelvis participated in Florida Southern College’s Study Abroad program in Spain, where he spent the month of May immersed in the local culture and experiencing all that Spain has to offer.

His travels also took him to Croatia, where he visited Dr. Lockard and explored the beautiful coastal cities of Trogir and Split.

Our summer camp adventurers had a wild Monday when the team from Gatorland stopped by for a special visit! Campers had the opportunity to learn about amazing animals, see them up close, and discover what makes Florida wildlife so unique. It was an unforgettable experience!

Mrs. Senzamici is spending part of her summer in San Juan, enjoying the sights, history, and culture of this beautiful city.

We are excited to announce that FSC has earned national recognition from the National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ), receiving an A rating for its undergraduate Elementary Education program's preparation of future teachers in the science of reading.

The distinction places Florida Southern among a select group of teacher preparation programs nationwide recognized for equipping aspiring educators with research-based instructional methods proven to help children become successful readers.

“This recognition from the National Council on Teacher Quality affirms the strength of our School of Education program and our unwavering commitment to advancing student success through high-quality teacher preparation.” said Dr. Tracey D. Tedder, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Florida Southern College.
