🏖️✋ Learning Through Touch!

Today, our VPK littles got to get their hands in the sand as we continued learning about our five senses.

We explored our sense of touch by feeling the texture of the sand and using our fingers to write letters.

Today we kicked off our week of learning about the Five Senses by exploring our sense of smell with the Cardinals & the BlueJays🌸

Our littles stopped to smell the flowers and used their noses to explore different scents in our outdoor classroom. Learning about our senses through real-life, hands-on experiences makes learning fun and meaningful!

🍊 Science Fun: Do Oranges Sink or Float?

Today our littles explored sink and float using oranges! We made predictions, tested our ideas, and discovered what happens when an orange is placed in water—with and without the peel.

A simple experiment that builds curiosity, observation, prediction, and early science skills!

Today, I’m delighted to introduce our very special Guest Reader!

She is not only my friend and colleague; she is also a role model, a mentor, and someone who has made a lasting impact on my life as an educator.

Our paths first crossed about 15 years ago, when she supported me in my classroom through the United Way’s Success By 6 program. I am so grateful that we met. Her ideas, creativity, dedication to young children, and the valuable tools she shared have stayed with me and continue to influence the way I teach every day.

Her understanding of young children—their curiosity, their unique perspectives, and the ways they learn—is truly remarkable. She helped me grow as a teacher, encouraged my creativity, and opened my eyes to the endless possibilities within the classroom.

During her visit, she will read the special story The Dot, a wonderful reminder that each of us has something unique and meaningful to share with the world.

She has truly made her mark, and she has helped so many educators make theirs. Without further ado, please join us in welcoming our special Guest Reader, Layla Cribb!
