Happy Mother’s Day to our amazing Pathways moms!

I am so grateful for each of you. It is a true privilege to walk alongside you and get to know your families, your stories, and the incredible love you pour into your children every single day. Your patience, strength, faith, and advocacy do not go unnoticed—they are what help your children grow and thrive.

I see the way you celebrate the small wins, push through the hard moments, and continue to show up with unwavering love. Your children are who they are because of you, and we are better as a school because of the partnership we have with each of you.

I hope today you feel seen, appreciated, and deeply loved.

Happy Mother’s Day! 💐❤️🤗

With love,

Rebecca Sumner

Art Therapy with Mrs. Croft 🎨

This week in art therapy, students had a wonderful time learning about warm and cool colors with Mrs. Croft! They explored how warm colors like red, orange, and yellow can make us feel energized and happy, while cool colors like blue, green, and purple can create a sense of calm and relaxation.

Through hands-on activities and creative expression, students experimented with color choices and discovered how art can reflect emotions. We love seeing their creativity shine while building important skills through art therapy!

Just like the variety of colors we used this week, God created each of us uniquely and with purpose. Psalm 139:14 reminds us, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Each color plays an important role in a beautiful masterpiece—just like each student is an important part of God’s creation.

✨ Keep up the great work, artists!

✨ Throwback Thursday ✨

Our students did an amazing job selling roses to the SEU community! 🌹 We are so proud of their efforts to communicate and connect with others. A big thank you to the SEU men’s basketball team for helping make the day a success! 🏀

We also appreciate everyone who preordered roses to bless our teachers, students, and Pathways community ❤️

As we reflect, we’re reminded of God’s definition of love:
📖 1 Corinthians 13:4–7

May we continue to show His love to others each day.

🌱 From Garden to Table – A Special Moment at the Pathways Life Skills House
Back in September, something special began.
The Grounds Department at Southeastern University built and installed raised planter beds at the Pathways Life Skills House, creating a space where students could experience the full journey of growing food. Under the Farm-to-Table program administered by Karl Snow, Director of Grounds, the Pathways students planted beet seeds together in those beds.
From that moment on, the students were part of the process.
They helped water the beds, care for the plants, and faithfully watch them grow day after day. What started as tiny seeds slowly became a thriving garden — nurtured by the students themselves.
Today, that journey came full circle with Pathways’ first official table event.
The menu was simple and perfect:
Fresh beets harvested from the Pathways garden
Diced and spread evenly on a baking sheet
Lightly salted
A small dab of local honey on each piece
Baked at 400° for 30 minutes
After cooling, each sweet beet bite was served with a toothpick for the students to enjoy.
And it was a massive hit.
The students ate every single one — discovering a new way to cook and enjoy a vegetable they had helped grow themselves. But more than that, they experienced something powerful:
The privilege of eating food from a garden they planted, cared for, and sustained.
Moments like this are what the Farm-to-Table program is all about — connecting students to the process of growing, preparing, and enjoying real food.
What an incredible opportunity for the Pathways students, and a reminder that learning can truly come from the soil all the way to the table.🌱🍽️

We had the first annual Pathways Science Fair. Students led the experiments while other students participated in making a hypothesis and finding a conclusion. Everyone had a wonderful time with the hands on learning experience outside! “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.” Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭31‬ 🔬👩‍🔬🥼
