After a long trip, the MPA class is back in Florida! None of this wouldn’t have been possible without our wonderful chaperones, Harrison Parents Association, Harrison staff, and advisor Mr. Jansen. More posts and pictures to come of each activity we did over the days. Thank you everyone!

The first stop today was to the American Society of Cinematographers! We had a talk with cinematographer Richard Crudo and got to look at camera history.

MPA students made it to Los Angeles today after a five hour flight! We went to the Griffith Observatory tonight to look at the city lights. More to come tomorrow.

Today Harrison MPA students attended Gasparilla International Film Festival, where eight students films were screened. Congratulations to the crew of Battle of Air Bands, directed by Joshua Bowen, which took home two of the four awards given out (best cinematography and best picture - judges choice)!

The first round of Harrison MPA films are in the final stages of completion! Senior group Hollis Rosenkranz, Caroline Carter, Ava Carter, and Kim-Anh Vo finished their film “Freewheel,” a film about going back to the roots of riding bicycles in an age of convenience.

The Harrison Motion Picture Arts Department had TEN films accepted into the 2018 All American High School Film Festival which is scheduled to take place at the AMC Theaters in Times Square the weekend of October 5, 2018.

In 2017 the festival awarded over $400,000 in prizes and scholarships. Word is the winners will be receiving even more this year at the October awards ceremony!

The ten films accepted are:

It’s that time of year again! The Harrison Motion Picture Arts showcase is this weekend and it’s going to be good. We have the most diverse selection of films yet and three public showtimes to catch them! Please support the Motion Picture Arts Department and see what the students have been working so hard all year to create. Tickets are available in attached link, showtimes are as follows:
