Congratulations Brooke Sommers for being nominated as a finalist for the Florida Blue Pitch Competition! This healthcare innovation challenge is open to topics surrounding healthcare affordability and accessibility, solutions with uninsured health insurance crisis, healthcare Al & applications, solutions for healthier lifestyles, telehealth advancements and improvement, and other broad topics in healthcare. Brooke is a Florida Southern College freshman who founded Dermageneous, a genetic testing company that links your DNA to existing skincare products. For more information, click the link! Big congratulations to Happyson Kaunda on winning 1st place at this year’s Governors Cup held at the University of Tampa! His innovative business concept for an online bus ticketing platform in his home country of Zambia impressed the judges and beat out competitors from 9 other Florida universities.
We are so proud of Happyson's achievement and his brilliant entrepreneurial mindset. His continued success demonstrates the power of big ideas and passion to drive positive change. Happyson's journey is an inspiration to us all, and we're excited to see where his vision will take him next!

We have an exciting event for all the FSC students - get ready to launch your big idea! Our annual business plan competition is back with $10,000 in seed funding up for grabs for the winning venture. Come to our info sessions on February 22nd 10am-12pm or March 1st 1-2pm in the CFEE at Becker Business Building to learn more and get your application ready before the deadline on March 24. The competition takes place April 5th from 10am-12pm - don’t miss your chance to pitch your innovative concept and take home the grand prize! Florida Southern College’s Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise was ranked #42 on the prestigious Poets&Quants list of Best Undergraduate Business Schools for 2024!
This marks the highest rank achieved by FSC in the six years that we have been featured on the list. Florida Southern stands tall as one of just three schools in Florida to make the list this year, solidifying our position as the second highest-ranking private institution in the state.
“It is an honor to be ranked among the best business schools in the nation, which further affirms that our faculty are committed to excellence,” said Dr. Michael Weber, Dean of FSC’s Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise. “Our inclusion on this prestigious list is validation of our program quality by industry experts.”

Congratulations to Jacqueline Martinez and Happyson Kaunda for being the selected winners of the 2024 Sharp Fellowship scholarship! Jacqueline is a Business Administration & Management major expected to graduate in 2026; Happyson is a science major expected to graduate in 2024. Both students have proven that they bring strong
entrepreneurial skills to the table. In addition to the Sharp Fellowship scholarship, these two students earned their way into a mentorship/ internship program with a host company to continue expanding their skills.
