Professional Development Senior Coordinators Brett Lanier and Cindy Braaten recently facilitated a training session at Ridge Community High School for administrators and department chairs. The session focused on building teacher leader capacity through professional learning centered on standards-based instruction and the school’s instructional framework. Participants engaged in collaborative discussions and learning experiences designed to strengthen instructional leadership and support consistent, high-quality teaching practices across the campus.

Our Instructional Mentors have jumped right into action with supporting and helping their new teachers accelerate success.

Sherly has helped Ms. Brown with implementing small group rotations during the 3rd week of school. Way to go!

Margarita and Alexandra facilitated PLCs, using the Analyzing Student Log (ASL) as a framework for analyzing student work. Their skills in ELA and Math combined perfectly! Thanks Palmetto Elementary for welcoming them both with open arms!

Leslie is hard at work, building relationships with her teachers! We love to see our new teachers smile!

Intern Seminar Fall 2026

These student teachers are completing their final student teaching with Polk County Public Schools this semester.

The students are from Florida Southern College, Polk State College, Southern Eastern University, University of Central Florida, and Webber University.

The full day of collaborative learning included sessions on Ethics and Professionalism in Education, De-Escalation Strategies, Interviewing Skills, and Getting Hired in Polk County Public Schools.

Our 2026–2027 Aspiring Leaders Program (ALP) cohort is officially set, and we couldn’t be more excited to begin this journey with this year’s participants!

We kicked off the year with breakfast, teambuilding, and getting to know the roles and responsibilities of an Instructional Mentor.

These ladies are now ready to "Accelerate New Teacher Success!" in each of their schools.
