Recently, Ekta Grewal, CEO of NLCR, had the opportunity to present at the Centers for Cognitive Wellness, where she introduced NLCR to neuropsychologists, LCSWs, as well as master’s and doctoral students. She had the chance to share information about NLCR training programs and various free training resources, including GCP and IATA. She also inspired doctors to become Principal Investigators on clinical trials and stay up to date with medical advancements while giving patients access to cutting edge new treatments. She spoke about patient advocacy, health equity, and community engagement and her work at Sikhs in Clinical Research. Additionally, she shared the Sikh Patient Care Guide with professionals and students to help them learn Sikh faith and give Sikh patients culturally competent care. Overall, it was wonderful connecting with everyone, and the session received very positive feedback for being informative and engaging.

Our research intern recently had the opportunity to attend the Women in Medicine event in Chicago, which brought together doctors, researchers, and medical students from across the country. The event gave a platform for networking and meaningful discussions around medicine, research, and leadership.
She was especially excited to attend the session on “Breaking barriers to elevate women leaders in medicine,” which highlighted the low representation of women, particularly from the South Asian community, in healthcare leadership compared to entry-level positions. There were thoughtful discussions on perfectionism, balancing humility with self-promotion, overcoming imposter syndrome, developing soft skills for leadership, embracing failures, and the importance of multidimensional mentoring by seeking mentors in diverse areas and building trust.
Another session focused on embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in leadership practices. It emphasized adaptive leadership, tackling challenges by not only asking what but also why and how, and practicing inclusive leadership with holistic interpretation and respectful interventions. The session also included an interactive activity where participants were given scenarios and asked to provide solutions.
Overall, the event provided valuable learning and practical insights into leadership and professional growth.

Recently, NLCR had the opportunity to set up a booth at the M.A.P Your Health event in Chicago. We were able to connect with the local community and share information about clinical research as a career path and as a treatment option. We also gave away free educational resources about clinical research, helping raise awareness and answer questions from attendees.

Beyond our booth, we learned more about other organizations making meaningful contributions in healthcare. The community, including kids and adults, enjoyed our spin the wheel activity along with the small gifts and keychains.

The event featured health-focused discussions, free screenings, and valuable resource giveaways, making it a well-rounded community health initiative. Overall, it was a rewarding experience and an excellent opportunity to engage, educate, and collaborate.

Key regulatory document in clinical trials:
✅ 1. Curriculum Vitae (CVs)
Up-to-date CVs for investigators and key staff demonstrate qualifications, training, and readiness to conduct clinical research. Ensure they are signed and dated.
✅ 2. Medical Licenses
Valid licenses for investigators and clinical staff confirm medical competence to provide patient care and trial oversight.
✅ 3. Training & Certifications

We recently set up a clinical research awareness booth in Washington, D.C., a city full of our nation’s history in its architecture, stories, and atmosphere. This visit helped us reconnect with the values of service, courage, and unity that shape America’s identity. It reminded us to not only remember those who served, but also to reflect on how we can honor their legacy through our actions and choices every day. At New Life Clinical Research (NLCR), our training program continues to shape the next generation of Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs)! Our current batch of students is now exploring the deeper ethical and operational components of clinical trials and gaining insights into essential processes that ensure trials are conducted safely and effectively.

Insights from the Recent Session:

✅ Informed Consent Process

Our students are being trained to ensure participants receive clear explanations of the study, time to consider their decision, and full understanding of the study and their rights, including the option to withdraw at any time.

✅ Phases of Clinical Trials

From safety in Phase 1 to post-marketing in Phase 4, students are learning in depth-how clinical trials evolve in scope, population size, and focus.

✅ Site Visits & Monitoring

Trainees are gaining insights into essential site visits—Pre-Study Visit (PSV), Site Selection Visit (SSV), Site Initiation Visit (SIV), Interim Monitoring Visit (IMV), and Close-Out Visit (COV)—with a strong focus on source data verification and review, regulatory documentation, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance.

✅ Adverse Events (AEs) & Serious Adverse Events (SAEs)

Students are learning how to document AEs and SAEs. They’re also being trained to promptly bring safety concerns and reports to the attention of the Principal Investigator (PI), ensuring the site remains informed and making patient safety the priority.

We’re proud to see our students grow into capable, detail-oriented professionals who understand the ethical, regulatory, and operational responsibilities of clinical research. With each session, they’re becoming more confident in their ability to contribute meaningfully to advancing science while maintaining data integrity and patient safety.
